I wasn't too upset after Creamer's performance, because really I came to see Behrouz. I was really hoping to hear a good set from Behrouz so that I could finally see why so many people hold this guy in high regard, and boy did he ever deliver.

The best way to describe Behrouz is a cross between 2002-2003 Deep Dish and Danny Tenaglia. Quite a good cross if you ask me. His set was comprised of 2002-2003 Deep Dish style dark, groovey progressive with brooding baselines, and 8am bojangled Deep Dish bangers. Like Tenaglia, he played a few housey house tracks and a good dose of vocals over fierce basslines. And like Tenaglia, the programming of his set was very "compartmentalized", with several segments dedicated to distinct sounds. Except for a few lulls, Behrouz was pretty relentless the whole morning which was a stark contrast to the other times I've seen him and how boring he's been.

One thing to note about Behrouz is that if you catch him in a smaller venue like that Century party he played at he's going to play more housey and more deeper. If you like the driving basslines and tougher beats catch him in a bigger club. I dont think i've ever heard Behrouz play a boring set because I know what to expect given the crowd and club he's playing at. IMO that is what makes a good dj because he knows how toplay for the crowd. He is a cross between Tenaglia and Deep Dish and that's how to describe him. I'm still searching for that set. Sent Behrouz a message on his myspace page asking for it too: www.myspace.com/djbehrouz

Yes Carey, and while you're at it, ALSO MAKE ALL FAGS THAT COME TO THE CLUB WEAR PINK TRIANGLE ARMBANDS AND GIVE BATS TO THE STRAIGHT BOYS SO THEY CAN BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM....
THAT WAY WE CAN GET RID OF ALL FAGS ONCE AND FOR ALL....

Just my 2 cents....

wow...you're good people

~Edit~ Those "fags" are people too ya know, and they have every right to go out and have a good time. If you're upset b/c maybe one or two hit on you...then big deal, just say you're not interested and continue on with your night. Now you know how it feels to be a girl in a club and get hit on by guys all night.

Sometimes you can fix it, sometimes the crowd would rather just move on. The latter doesn't mean you're not earning your paycheque unless you are doing it every single mix.

Okay, come on, please. I think we are mature enough not to equate a request for a "shirts on policy" as gay bashing, aren't we? Shirts serve a particular function when dancing: they absorb sweat and let it dry gradually in the atmosphere rather than when its smeared on my face when I'm on the dance floor. Gay or straight sweat...its all the same, slimey and smelly.

I think most people agree that we do not want a gay or staight Sonic...sexual orientation has nothing to do with appreciating great music and celebrating it dancing in groups. The desire and need to participate in music and dance music is hard wired in our individual brains and in our cultural collective concsience as demonstrated by almost all cultures throughout history.

House music is a unifying force...our objective should be to get as many people together as possible to share in the experience, enrich our lives, and let us connect with others. This means finding acceptable common rules that satisfy everyone's needs, not just one group.

Lets not let general society's prejudices and short-hand hackneyed cliches be divisive in our culture too. Please.

Awww, did someone do to many pills or too much crystal last night? Don't worry. If you go to bed right now, I promise it will all be over by Wednesday.

Posted by DigDeep on Jan-29-2007 14:03:

I think after the past two Saturdays there should be no worries of having to impliment any type of 'rules'. The dj's/bookings are obviously having a huge impact on what type of crowd is showing up each and every week.

One of the great things about this venue is the fact that there aren't any rules.

With all that aside, fantastic night on Saturday. I've heard mixed reviews on Creamer - but what i'll say is my favourite segment of the night was the middle hour of Johns set. Pure filth, had the place going off. Mixing, programming (i thought) was tight as fuck. Towards the end of his set, he seemed to start enjoying the company in the booth a little too much - which took away from the quality of his set. Although, dropping Hide U (on it's own, without a mix) was fucking ace if you ask me.

Behrouz came on, and at first took the music to a deeper level. Progressively he got a lot harder, with crazy rolling basslines pounding out on the floor towards the end of his set. I think I just crapped out of energy, around 7am which made it tough for me to really enjoy the music as much as I should have.

Again, a great showing from TA

We got to the club around 3:15/3:30 and the music Creamer played from that time until he stopped the music and restarted it with that vocal about 'taking you on a journey' was the highlight of the night for me (so I think Jeff & I are of the same opinion). Such dark & twisted tunes!!! Mental. After that transition, he kinda lost me, until Hide You, which was a nice surprise. Behrouz was fun too. Left at 6. Nice to see Andy out after a long hiatus.

WHAT you make it sound as if they aren't inferior to the rest of us. That cant't be true, can it?

Posted by DiskoBiskit on Jan-29-2007 15:24:

I saw several straight boys with their tops off, including the one steroided up asswipe who kept standing in front of me and staring hoping to get a response. Admittedly, I thought he was gay at first

Best tune of the night for me was

Gabriel Ananda - "Doppelwhipper"

especially as I had been playing it non stop since Friday!

One of the best nights at Sonic for a while. Lots of new faces in there, great tunes and I think I saw pretty much everyone I know having a great time!

lol....he would stand a few feet away, wait for slingy to leave my side and then stand infront of me staring at me while i danced until he realised he was getting no reaction from me... serious creeper

I call him ape-man! Michael, Jeffrey and Chris rescue me all the time from him. He is vile.

I would have loved to rock out to this with you Louise...definately on my favourite tracks from last year.

there are a couple juicers that come to sonic that are way too pretty to be straight and then once you realise they are breathing down the back of your neck, ladies, you get serious chills.... haha.

So, I should discontinue use of this technique?

Well for just my second time at Sonic (second weekend in a row as well) I have to say this place gets better and better. CReamer was amazing IMO. Just dark and bumpin along, the vibe was great on the dance floor, I just stood at the front where the Dj was and danced my life away. Looking back at the crowd behind me, everyone had the biggest smiles on there faces and I havent seen a crowd go nuts the way they did this night in awhile. Car wash crew very minimal and they stayed to themselves except on big sweaty dood who just wouldnt give me my space. Theres always one. I dont think I stopped moving once, even smoking wher you could just hear a faint beat I was still moving back and forth. Great to see some old friends and meet some new faces. Nice to do a final party with you Natalie sorry I couldnt make the Ice Lounge party and make sure you smack Graham for getting too drunk to come. Rachel, Andrea, Josh, Peter, Patrick, Jenn, Steve, Sheldon and Disco nice seeeing and meeting some of you for the first time. Sheldon I told you I knew who that was, thanks for the laugh of the night. Tune of the night though was Kosheen - Hide U, dont know what mix it was but I love hearing the classics like that. Cribs you shoulda been there........
