Always wondered this, is it funny to see how people react when you tell them you caught them lying? I think that'd be the best part of the job. In fact, I'd probably put on one of those dramatic bad-cop questioning sessions just to watch the liar sweat and squirm.

Whats even better is when you get to testify in court and prove the person is a liar....I've had the chance to do that once.

On a side note, I just got a ticket this morning for running a stop. The road seemed unsalted and slippery, but I didn't stop completely. I admit that so I'm guilty.
However I hear that if the officer mis-fills the ticket, the ticket could be thrown out. Is this the case for below?
The Year listed shows 08. Is that supposed to be the year of the car or year of my licence plate sticker?

Prior to moving on to bodily injury claims most of what I did was investigate suspected fraud claims. Often times fraud claims are a game of poker... fraud can be very difficult to prove by legal standards (depending on the type of fraud) so often the course of action will be to tell the person what evidence you have and then invite them to withdraw their claim. Usually people are shocked with the stuff we can find out, they'll continue to deny the fraud but will eventually withdraw their claim.
I recall one claim I had for a trucker that set his rig ablaze. His story was that his truck had been stolen from a carpool lot that he had parked it at and set on fire. He claimed to be at home in Toronto when this happened (truck was found near Orangeville). Unfortunatly, for Mr. Trucker he called a cab after setting his truck on fire. We were able to confirm that the call was made from his cell phone and picked up from a cell tower less then 1km from where the truck was found. Poor guy couldn't figure out how we were able to find out where he was when the call was made.

I went to Indiana this past weekend, the faster speed limit in the states is GLORIOUS. Had it not been for that, we would have probably been driving for an extra hour, which would have been a bitch. We should raise our speedlimit, even if only by 5-10 km/hr.

Why, so people with just drive 5-10 km/hr faster then they already are. Raise the speed limit to 120 and people will still drive 140 and faster.
I say bring back photoradar and increase the speed limit on highways to 120....put the radar machines on every bridge and if you are going even 5 km/hr over the speed limit then you get a ticket.

But then it will take me an hour and 20 minutes to get to work rather then an hour and 10!

Poor paraphrasing. What's wrong with society is people failling to accept responsibility for their actions and the reason I don't attempt to avoid accidents where I will not be liable is because it has potential to result in a worse collision for which I may be liable.

its not so much the contesting of tickets but the fact that society cannot accept responsibility or fault for what they do wrong...its crap like this that creates all these frivolous lawsuits which then sets precedent and causes even more lawsuits....which then causes increases in the goods and services that we all enjoy....eventually, no one will take any responsibility and society will crumble because no one will offer any services in fear of being sued or being financially ruined.

Thats terrible. How would you feel if you killed someone knowing you didnt try and avoid the accident? Sleep well at night knowing your insurance rate didnt rise?

I'd sleep well at night knowing that it was not my negligence that killed the fatally injured party.
As I stated earlier, I've investigated far too many serious accidents that would have been minor if only the driver had not attempted to avoid. I don't make that mistake.

put the shoe on the other foot. How would you feel if you killed someone because you tried to avoid a minor collision?

Bonus points for anyone who tells us why the speed limit is in place.
PS.
Demerit points for those who say it's safety.

I routinely drive 140 on 100 highways.
If there was no speed limit, I'd probably be pushing 180. Maybe faster.

There aren't enough good drivers out there to have no speed limit. There are too many things happening while you are driving, like pedestrians, lights changing, other cars changing lanes to allow you to drive as fast as you want. Sure give me demerit points but it is about safety. There is no reason at all to have no speed limit, so you take an extra 10 minutes to get somewhere so what, at least no one is harmed in the process. Excessive speeding is just plain dangerous, especially on city roads.
PS. Where do you live? So I can slash your tires.

you still didn't provide any decent arguments why there should be no speed limits.
Even no speed limit on highway, as much as I'd like that, would be catastrophic in Canada. People here jut don't drive as well as people in Germany and other European countries. I can think of nothing worse than a little Chinese grandma switching into the left lane at 100 km/h without checking her mirrors while I'm flying there at 200 km/h.
