2. You've talked to me about people being rude to you on the boards. Well we're saying that it's very hard to read your posts when you quote like that - aka the wrong way. Yet you are getting lippy when we ask you to quote properly.
Just b/c RJ may know how to quote, doesn't mean that he's responsible for telling you how to do it. You don't seem to be brain dead...I'm sure you can figure it out.
Here's a tip:
How about you click "Quote"? |
Simply pressing quote just doesn't suffice sometimes. It's limited in functionality sometimes.
And taking random jabs at people for something that is bothering you and not offering up a remedy can only mean 2 things. 1. They 're unhappy and they want to keep an outlet to vent on,or 2.They don't have the intellectual wherewithal to see that there might actually be a reason for it.
EDIT: Good example here. In one post alone, you have managed some insight, solution and gone about it in a friendly way. Thanks for that. What do you think is going to create a desired response to the issue? Your way, or his? (That is, if it was something that really bothered you...)

I don't see how it just doesn't suffice. All of us can double quote using that function. I don't see why you can't.

First of all, RJs comment was hardly a random jab. It was a suggestion pertaining to an observation that not only he has witnessed but many of us have - thus the reason for people commenting on your style of quoting.
I don't want to speak for RJ, but IMO his lack of a remedy didn't fall into either of those categories. Not only is it not his responsibility - nor any of ours - to teach you how to use the forums. But I'm sure you're a grown man, you can learn how to do things for yourself. No one's going to spoon feed you.
Something YOU could have done to help the situation. Post this:
I've tried to figure out how to quote and double quote on my own. Yet I'm still not sure what the proper way is. Would someone mind explaining it to me?
~Edit~
I stand corrected.

Ok, I don't get here how you corrected youself
Whom you were directing that at
or if your corresction is directed at me or him
So how is that better
Edit: IMO Too many people in life cop out of things sighting "why should I...." Instead of "Why wouldn't I....." Beating somebody "repeatedly" because of there ignorance doesn't solve a thing. I do have some expertise in this principal. ie: you can feed a starving man, but if you teach him how to fish, he will never go hungry.

Wow...learn how to read. In my post I put that I didn't thank RJ's response went to either of the 2 categories. Then he posted himself saying it went into the first - as I quoted - that he was unhappy. Therefore I stand correct.
Wow...just wow.
P.S. Next step...learn how to double quote.

I look back at my personal methods regarding "The pursuit of knowledge", and shake my head. It's rot with dichotomies. It's like running in place at times. All the theory in the world will get you "know-ware". (See the pun?)

Nope...that's not what I'm talking about at all.
What I was referring to is posting two quotes in your post...not WITHIN each other like you just did. Sort of like what I did with your post and RJs.
I'll even show you again:

That way you're not posting 6 times in a row. It get's really annoying to read (one of the so-called "unwritten rules of TA" that you've told me there are - so there ya go, it's written for you).

Dead link, nothing on "quoting", thanks anyhow.

But this is wrong?
Edit: The differences are subtle if at all. If this is bad, why it makes other unhappy is beyond me
Posted by rabbitjoker on Feb-01-2007 21:11:
There is no automated "nesting" option for quotes.
So don't nest them (via highlight, cut & paste).
The differences are not subtle.

I sense an Avenger style hug coming on. Not the generic kind either. The sassy kind that you can only get caught doing!!! No kissing as I barely even know you....
