...your point being what, exactly?

that its much easier for a dj to switch it up

why should a dj need to switch it up?
They play to a new audience every night in a different city (talking top-end dj's here).
The chances of a punter in South Korea having been at his set a week previously in Belarus is pretty slim.

Again - how would the audience know?

That would be reasonable only if the DJ would play in the same place more than once in a certain period of time. To be creative just for the sake of it is fine but there's no need for it always.. of course common sense is recommended; don't play the exact same tracks all year everywhere.
As has been said here before, why would the DJ need to switch his set up if the place and audience is different every time? It's the very same thing for rock bands and other live acts.. they "learn" the tracks and will play them in all the places during their tour, maybe with a few little changes/additions here and there depending when and where the band/artist is, as the taste of the crowd differs in different areas of the world. Same goes for the DJ as well.

Yes i understand that. But a ive seen a few big name dj's that didnt play their norm i guess. Only seen it a few times but they were great shows. I wish alot did that more often.

those top djs play alot of sets each week they would go through hundreds of tracks every week if they played a different set each time.

| I'd be interested to know how much this actually is. I somehow doubt it's as much as Tiesto or PvD would make on a night. |
The ASCAP fee is figured as a percentage (IDK what the current rate is) or the projected profits for each venue, i.e how many people are coming in and how many drinks are being sold. So large venues like Pacha NYC will have to pay a much higher yearly fee than some small club in Hickory, NC that barely fits 50 people.
The thing that irks me about the ASCAP, however, is the fact that all of those fees are being distributed only amonst the artists that ASCAP represents, which are artists signed onto a BMI label. It sucks that our clubs have to pay the BMI artists when the DJs are playing tunes from artists that are not on BMI (in other words I play a lot of Masters At Work tracks, but Kenny Dope and Louie Vega aren't going to see a penny from ASCAP, while Justin Timberlake gets all of the money that they earned)
Yes, the big-name DJs are getting paid quite a bit of money to play other peoples tunes, but I think that the artists don't mind since they're getting a lot of good promotion from having their tunes canned. How many of you have seen records at your vinyl shop advertising "DJ-so-and-so played this track!"
