man i think we spent more time on that balcony than in the actual hotel room.
My problem is that the apartment I lived in with Craig in downtown Miami was pretty sick. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, ocean view, etc You saw it. It was pimp, but we were splitting the rent (1 bedroom), so it was totally doable for us.
But now that Im looking for 1 bedrooms, Im looking for places with all of those amenities lol. Im going to be spending most of my free time at my place because Ill be in school and Ill have lots of studying to do, so I want my place to be nice if Im going to be there a lot you know? But its fuckin expensive down here! Im trying to find someone with a house who is renting out a room who isnt home that much. That would be ideal but if Im not having any luck by the end of this month, Im just gonna have to bite the bullet and pick a place, even if its not all pimped out like my last place.

Originally posted by lcid heh, yeah that place was really nice. reminds me of the place i had when i first moved out to Milwaukee. it was a 1 bedroom 10th floor high-rise in a great area downtown, looking out over the lake. rent was $1100 but i was splitting it with my bf at the time so it didn't seem that bad... but man it was tough to go from that to a tiny 3rd floor studio only 1 street away, with 1 window and a view of a brick wall, lol. as shitty as it was, i miss that studio like hell sometimes. it was my first official "on-my-own" apartment in Wisconsin (i had previously lived with my bf, aunt and uncle, subleased my friend's place, etc)... and i fucking partied nonstop when i was living there. the sink was the size of a shoebox so i never cooked, but my fridge was always stocked with beer and the entire top of the cabinets was lined with random liqour bottles, lol.

I actually found a listing for a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house and there are 2 chicks living there and renting out one of the rooms, both in their mid 20s and one is in real estate, the other in advertising. They have a small dog and the house is on the water with wood floors, the whole 9 yardsit looks sweet. Only $750 a month plus another $150 probably for utilities. Im really skeptical of living with 2 women though. I think that might be a little much, but damn the house looks so nice. She is already emailing me pictures of her dog and is like, "here's my little monster! hehe" |

Originally posted by Slylee No. Continuing to live with my mom is out of the question. I love her and appreciate everything she has done for me, but the only reason we are getting along lately is because of me and because Ive been really going out of my way to show her I appreciate her (basically kissing her ass and doing whatever I can to please her). Ive been staying home a lot, etc God forbid I start having a life. She gets jealous (wont admit it though) and starts finding reasons to tell me to come home. I like it that Ive been saving money, but at the same time, I want to be able to sit on my couch naked and spark a j whenever I feel like it, or bring home a hottie and scream in ecstasy until the sun comes up. Hahaha that sounds bad but you get my drift I suppose I cant do either of those with a roommate either, but if I find a cool guy roommate, he probably wouldnt care. lol Hopefully I'll find a decent 1 bedroom all for myself

Originally posted by lcid i hear ya, and if i were you id probably wanna move out too if it was really a hassle like you say it is. i guess i just had it super easy when i was living at home because my mom never cared what i did, who i brought home, what time i got home, where i was, etc... i could smoke pot and let drunk boys sleep on my floor and all she would say the next morning is "who wants pancakes?!"

jamie: i don't see how you do it. i got kicked out when i was 18 cause i had a life. got kicked out 3 times. 3rd time stayed out and haven't looked back. its so liberating knowing I'm doing better than my parental units yet i have no college education. i could afford their house payment EASY! my rent now is like $100 less than their house payment! then again if i did live up there id be making shit and living in a hell hole of a town.
Well Im not doing better than them at all and I've never been kicked out before. My dad makes a crapload of money, but spends it as fast as he makes it, and my mom doesn't make as much as he does, but she lives quite comfortably. She has a nice apartment, a new car, and she is smart with her money and saves up for vacations every year. Shes just set in her little ways and shes pretty strict about things when its under her roof.
I could be 40 and she would still be all up in my business if I was staying with her. Thats just how she is. Its how she was raised. Shes the oldest of 6 from a big irish catholic family and she went to private catholic school, etc she has a lot of old school values and they drive me nuts. My dad is way more laid back. I loved living with him before he married his wife. lol Can't stand her...
My mom and I get along fine. She cracks me up and she has her moments too. Things will be much cooler when I'm out though. I'm excited

Originally posted by jennypie I have a student line of credit, which I guess is the same thing. If I understand what you're saying correctly, you're not actually going to go to school...you just want the money? I dunno how it works at your bank, but at mine they required proof of full time enrollment before they gave me the money. They also didn't give it to me without having collateral and doing a credit check. Fortunately I have those things in good standing, so they hooked me up...very very nicely too! I think it's cool if you're going to go to school...sometimes you just have to accept that you HAVE to be in debt at some point in your life (if you don't have mommy and daddy doing everything for you). But if you just want this money to fuck around, then I think it's a bad move. edit: No they don't watch my spending, but they only release it in increments of 10 000 per year. I can do whatever I want with it once it's in my account.

Originally posted by IpLaYWiTLiGhTs haha, yea of course I'm going to school (full time student), and I have excellent credit (paying off my car). I have no spending money whatsoever though, but I find that impossible because I work about an average of 35 hours a week! The car is really beating the shit out of me, and I still have to pay for school. I'm thinking...I have about 2 more years of payments on my car, and after that's done it'll alleviate most of my expensses. Since you don't have to pay back the loan until after you graduate, and that'll be awhile, it shouldn't be hard to save enough money by then. Like Sylee stated before, student loans interest is a lot lower. I really only want a small amount anyways, say 5k-10k. I know no matter how low the interest rate is I'll still end up oweing more than I borrowed, but if you think about it HOPEFULLY I'll have a better paying job after I graduate, and paying will be in really small increments. I WANT THINGS NOW NOW NOW~~~~~~~~~~~ btw, although everything was related, you guys really know how to hijack a thread
don't listen to her. do it. it's a good loan to have as opposed to a private bank loan. you only live once! and as long as u make the the payments on time, when the time comes, you'll be fine
