I have Fido, and I bring my cell phone with me all the time (Brazil, Czech Republic, South Africa, etc), and I have never get charged for a call if I didn't answer it. Again, I don't use my voice mail with Fido, if I don't answer the call, it gets forwarded to my land line. |

ive gotten burned in mex before too...
from what i understand, a company like rogers would go to the GSM providers in the states, for example, and get a roaming rate for its customers...all GSM providers would submit a bid of sorts, and whoever offers the lowest price would get the contract
from what ive been told, all the GSM phone companies in mexico are owned by the same company...its the most expensive place in the world to talk on an out of country cell phone iirc...
i was in cancun for a few days, got a bit drunk and made some calls...then i had a friend coming into town whos travel got effed up...by the time all was said and done my bill was $600 or so..
its cheaper to call in fuckin AUSTRALIA than mexico
