when youre away... if you get a call and someone leaves you a message on your voicemail, they charge you for the time

so if i didnt answer fuckin 200 calls, and people left couple messages or just got to the voicemail but hung up... i fuckin pay 3.50 per call

WTF

I believe you must forward your line to your land line (if you have one) in order to avoid this problem. I have Fido, and I bring my cell phone with me all the time (Brazil, Czech Republic, South Africa, etc), and I have never get charged for a call if I didn't answer it. Again, I don't use my voice mail with Fido, if I don't answer the call, it gets forwarded to my land line.

ive gotten burned in mex before too...

from what i understand, a company like rogers would go to the GSM providers in the states, for example, and get a roaming rate for its customers...all GSM providers would submit a bid of sorts, and whoever offers the lowest price would get the contract

from what ive been told, all the GSM phone companies in mexico are owned by the same company...its the most expensive place in the world to talk on an out of country cell phone iirc...

i was in cancun for a few days, got a bit drunk and made some calls...then i had a friend coming into town whos travel got effed up...by the time all was said and done my bill was $600 or so..

On a side note, if you forward your cell phone to your house line during the day and someone calls you and you pick up your house phone - you're still using up your cell phone's daytime minutes!
