Now because you've annoyed me, I WILL tell you what I base my opinion on and if it's not to your liking, tough shit!

Putting aside the countless number of articles I've read about Jules in mixmag and DJ magazine etc, I've also seen the guy live more times than I care to remember... at Gatecrasher (both the SSS and the actual night at the Republic), at CODE (Godskitchen) and even at the 1st Radio 1 Love Parade. And I would have to say that 98% of the times I've seen him, he has been totally eclipsed by other DJs that have been on either before or after him. Especially at last year's SSS when he played after Paul Van Dyk.

In my opinion, Jules just doesn't work hard enough on his sets to justify how much he commands pay-wise. And his mixing is also very hit and miss. He just doesn't cut it. There are a lot of other talented amateur DJs out there who would make Jules look like he had only just bought a pair of decks. Seriously, if I had a pet monkey and I let him lose on my decks, I'm almost certain he would be better than Jules.

The fact that he can be so unprofessional as to attack a member of the crowd just backs up my original point.

Jules in an overpaid twat.

barryfigiel

Well that didnt hurt did it mate I dont mind when people have an opinion based on actual seeing him. But sometimes people come on here just to start flame wars. Or just to be different.

And please dont reply in such a manor to provoke a flame, because i dont rise to it

Since this was directed at me,I'll give you an answer. What I wrote 'bout him was just my opininon. As I clearly stated,I've never seen him live, and therefore my knowledge on the subject might not be the best.I have however, followed him closely on Radio 1 for a long time, and the fact is that he plays many VERY GOOD tracks a VERY LONG time before the masses and the media even get their hands on them. And I ain't talking about just the tracks he played that went into the charts afterwards. He played for instance PPK - Resurrection LONG before it sold so much(that goes for Dreamcatcher as well),and he played Frank Trax - Nebuchan before it even made its way into England, and got signed to Neo.His mixing is good, although I'll agree with those who say that he needs more creativity. And there a LOT of djs that are more popular than him in the trance scene that play far worse sets than what he does regularly. At least he always plays new and fresh tracks in his sets.(can't say that about Ferry for instance)He also is quite eclectic, spinning house, trance and techno in his sets.I'll agree that he plays annoying and cheesy tracks now and then, but then again:don't all trance-djs do that?So don't give me this crap about "research" when you don't state a single argument yourself.

Oh,and for those who wonder what his wife looks like,dl a video/pic with Angelic. You'll get a pretty good idea.

Yes,you are allowed to state your opinion, but then you shouldn't slam ME for doing the exact same thing!!! Besides, what you accused me of was not having any knowledge of the Judge's musical choices and abilities, which I DO have, and that was what I was trying to say with my previous post. You probably have more knowledge of Jules than me,but that's not REALLY the issue here, anyways.

It's all a question of taste, which is very pointless to discuss,as flaming always will be the result, and no one will be more convinced of the other's rant.I hereby declare that I will never participate in another "that dj-sucks"-thread on the forum,as it always will result in flaming of other TA's.(which is not what I want)

Hey,barryfigiel,it looks like you and me got off to a bad start.Shall we bury the hatchet?

Getting sick of these threads, they got tiresome months ago, and I'm sure you lot already know my opinion on him, just had to say something

Why do people hat Judge Jules...

Because they suffer from Ignorance, Jealosy and Imaturity.

Ha Ha

I myself do like Jules and rate him as a DJ. However for the last two, two and a half years hes been less than on form. When hes not on form his sets are mediocre at best, however when hes on top of his game he can really get a place going like no other DJ Ive seen.

His audience interaction on a non-club basis is poor I have to say, but in-club its amazing. Id rather have a DJ that talks to the crowd and jokes and laughs with them than some stuck up holier than thou DJ whos too far up their own rear end to even hear the records let alone hear anyone talking to them. Clubbing shouldnt be about that. I know his mixing isnt as brilliant as it could be but Jules is a Heads-Up DJ. Thats reflected in his mixing. He doesnt spend ages making sure the mix is perfect because hes interacting with the crowd. If he were a heads down DJ his mixing would be about a 1000% better. He does have the ability.

As for tune selection, he breaks tunes way before some other DJs do. Ive read how people are calling all the music he spins as cheese. How anyone could describe tunes like: Umek Exutol, Dave The Drummer - The One Last One, Green Velvet - La La Land, DJ Elite That Fuct Camera or countless Dave Clarke Tunes/Mixes as cheese is beyond me. Thats Techno. Tracks like that will never cross over.

Oh and speedracer_mec, music for the masses? You should take a look at your all time top three in your signature mate.
[/offtopic]

I joined this board a long time ago but didnt post for long while, however the general feeling I pick up form this board is that if you dont love PvD, Tiesto, AvB or Ferry your not wanted. There are some great people on this board but there are people with such closed minds its amazing. So what if you dont like Judge Jules. So what if you do. Does it matter at the end of the day? I thought we were in it for the love of the music not anything else.

i used to hate jules (greatly as most peopel may have known hehe)

but hes changed

a few days ago i heard him and was amazing, hes woke up and smelt the coffe, playds a semi hard style now, cosmic gate dumonde and other mixed in. i didnt actually here an cheese that night, i expected some of the old "up and coming chart trancers" to be in his set but there were none. hopefully he will stay like that, so all that is left to worry about is tall paul being crap!

JULES IS REALLY ON FIRE!!!!!

Smoking ..umm..something

People dislike Jules because he's a music whore. He's in it for the money 100%.

That said, I dislike people who only like "underground" music. No doubt a lot of the narrow minded people on these boards will go off "Ferry Corsten - Punk" simply because Dave Pearce made it his tune of the week last week, and because a lot of cheesy bars and clubs are playing it.

This is what I dislike. Thankfully, there don't appear to be as many hypocritical people in the trance scene as in the Garage scene, but I don't like this "I only like music the public havn't heard of" attitude.

In my opinion, Jules is a very competent DJ. I like him as a DJ, I can't stand him as a person. He's an egotistical wanker wherever he goes, he punched a clubber at Gatecrasher just because the clubber was wearing a t-shirt saying something rude about him. Whilst I dislike people who condemn anything commercial, it is true that the roots of clubbing and partying hard would survive better if the scene was not commercialised. Judge Jules goes against the philosophy of the "underground" club. He did start in underground clubs around London, but headed straight for the money. This is on contrast to DJs like Rob Tissera, who ended up in prison doing something he loved, and was still undeterred when he came out, or John '00' Fleming, whose career was almost destroyed by lung cancer, and he had to start from scratch and work his way back to the top. Laslty, Jules has done nothing to make his mark on the scene, he simple parades around Britain every week making more and more money. His job is not easy, but he is by no means a "clubbers DJ".

I've seen Jules perform 3 times now, his sets were mediocre, nothing spectaluar.

Judge Jules is not "shit" but he is VERY overrated. I certainly wouldn't be leaping for joy if I found he was playing near me tonight. He probably is.

Ok! Judge can mix !! I saw him doing 4 hour live set last night at Giant LA ! He is actually alot better than what i thought !
He played alot of good prograssive tunes along with few upliftings at the end !! His tune selection was amazing and mixing was pretty good !
I have to admit at this point "HE IS GOOD".
