Haha yeah, well my mom and her bf were living here too..but she's been in the hospital and I thought she was gonna have to go in a nursing home. But she's a lot better, and needs a safer place to live (we're at the top floor of a house, too many stairs). So yeah I'm gonna find her a place to live and rent out the other rooms to my friends.

Already got a buddy moving in next month, I'm stoked!!

I love where I live, it's so close to everything, and right in the middle of both my jobs (15 minute walk to each).

nope, i bought this w/ my own. in fact, my parents just recently filed for bankruptcy. and they're getting divorced. and my mom is filing for social security due to disibility.

so no, they had nothing to do with it. heh.

i've always had good credit...which, ironically enough, i owe my parents for. when i was 17 they co-signed on a credit card for me. it was like a $200 limit and i barely used it. but it gave me good credit, and i've been in good [actually, excellent] credit since then.

my mortgage was obtained through the VA, w/ a 6.5%. it's a 30 year. my monthly payments are $810 a month + utilities [which i have good standing due to renting in college - of which i paid for myself]. since i make around $30k a year, i can easily afford this place and still pay off student debt.

i'm 24, btw

excellent choice man! your home is pretty cool i liked it, just the backyard needs more green!

cleaning it is such a pain, last time i did it was about 6 months ago, pulled off the knobs and sliders, took off the face plate and cleaned it propper. its due for another cleaning soon... probably get a dust cover for it as well

I finished picking stuff out for my new place from Ikea!

I have a black futon that I'm working with for the living room area, and I'm going for a rich/warm Moroccan type mood. The walls are beige.

I looked up some decorating tips and learned that all the large pieces of furniture should match, as they will be the "anchor" of the room, so I just went with simple black for the coffee table.

Picked out this rug for the floor:

And these accent cushions for the futon, to bring out the colors in the rug, and the futon coverings (deep red/beige/hint of dark green):

I also have one of those tall floor lamps, the kind that everyone has...except mine has a lava lamp built into it, which I thought was cheesy, but now I think it'll actually add some warm and quirky mood light. The lava is red too, so it'll match, heheh.

I'm keeping my old dressers, which I've had since I was 12. They match pretty well with the theme I want going in my bedroom. The walls are painted a soft light yellow.

Since I slept on my futon, I have to buy a new bed! I picked out this frame:

This duvet cover/pillow shams:

With these sheets/pillow cases:

And for an extra bit of color, this throw blanket and pillow:

Annnnnnd that's it!! When I'm all moved in (Tuesday! Omg!), I'll take pics.

Hahah, yeah I know. Unfortunately it's not in my budget right now. I'm going with a mid-range priced mattress from Ikea...I figure it'll last me a few years, and then I can buy a really good one. The other thing is, I can't fit a box spring up the windy staircase in my new place. So a foam mattress is ideal.

S'all good, my bf is giving me his space-foam mattress as well, for added comfort.

Besides, anything is an upgrade from a shitty futon mattress, lol.

fuck i know that. im on a futon right now. sucks ass. its only a single. TINY! no room in my apartment though. having 2 roomies in a 2bdrm sucks ass. but it keeps my rent cheap.

I love it! I love all the wood, the floors, and the wainscoting in the bathroom (and the tub!). I just love older houses, period. So much more character.

I really dislike the turquoise on the exterior though, please tell me you're going to paint it?!

I recognize a Whirlpool fridge when I see it!

*does the moonwalk*

I like that stairway and tub too, and the kitchen sink. Seems like there are some pretty unique features in the house. Congratulations on the purchase!
