Even though originally composed by Barber, ive always recognized it as William Orbits track, which has then been remixed by Tiesto and friends. It kinda pisses me off seeing it on Tiesto's albums as his own TBH.

Agreed. Maybe Tiesto should rename it to: "DJ Tiesto - Barber & William Orbit's Adagio For Strings"!!! Because let's face it, without William Orbit's version, Tiesto's version wouldn't exist.

Didn't Tiesto also use Adagio for Strings in G Minor for the Athena theme?

Wow. Just... wow.

There's no need to be so abusive to the thread creator, he was asking a perfectly reasonable question, you fucks.

And I still don't quite understand why the track isn't labelled William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Tiesto mix), it's proper title.

How does all this work? If I created a remix of Chicane - Offshore, could I approach Xtravaganza and negotiate to get the track labelled as
Peter K - Offshore?

Labelling Tiesto's remix as Tiesto - Adagio for Strings makes it sound like it is his work entirely, and I know people who actually think it is his track.

It all seems farcical to me.

Well at least you're not being abusive yourself.

The real question is, why is everyone ragging on Tiesto for remixing a track that was already remixed when (If the Soulgood Interview has any truth to it), everyone gobbled up the Eric Prydz reworking of The Wall, even though the same track had been heavily remixed in recent years. Double standard.

Tiesto (with a hint of Ferry Corsten) made Gouryella - Gouryella, that makes him immortal.

Seeing that its such a shit track, the family probably refused to let anything related to his name be on it.

At least thats what I would do.

because its not it's proper title.

It should be Samuel Barber (for he is who wrote it) - Adagio for Strings

Or at least credit Barber in the title, which is what Orbit did:
William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings
shown here

Theres little difference between what Orbit did and what Tiesto did, except Orbit credited Barber in the title. Tiesto didn't remix the Orbit tune, so why should it be William Orbit - xxx (Tiesto Remix)?

Further... Orbit was creating an entire CD in the same concept... thus credited each author per track, imo, for ease of reference, rather than copyright or appeasing people for originalities sake.

If you completely remove Tiesto's rehash of Tomas ALbinoni from memory, at least he did this only once.

Without Barber's version none of the remixes would exist.
