First and formost thanx to the Hamilton crew for their great hospitality i honestly had the best weekend of my life !!!
I have been waiting for this party for way too long Donald is one of those Dj i never wanna miss not only because of the beats he plays but because of the show he puts on. He's just got so much energy behind the decks he's awsome to watch. It was also my first time at the O lounge and i have to say i like it a lot. I would do anything to have more big names in such an intimate venue, kinda like a few years back when Goldclub did their Big name small club deal. The sound system is pretty good i think it could use a little havier bass though. I think Jelo and Glaude played great exacly what i expected form them. Overall i just had such a great time even though i was sick as hell

I think I should review now....since I'm still feeling fresh. Basically a messy night...like Knoxy mentioned... preparty... party.. afterparty... EESH! O Lounge is quite the little venue; nice and intimate, a fair enough amount of space for dancing, and a comfy chill out area at the top with a top down view of the craziness from below. A whole bunch of us arrived there at about...sometime before the headlining set, not quite sure exactly when, but most likely before 11:30. Crowd was similar to smaller Toronto venues, such as Footwork, but I found that most people were much more tame. Feet pumping, body shaking, heads throbbing, hands thrown far up in the air, and sweat dripping. Yep yep, it was filthy. None of the clowns were in attendance, so I had to represent for everyone...I came, I conquered, and I was destroyed.. I remember sitting down for some good chats, but for the most part I couldn't stop relentlessly moving around. The night overall was extremely enjoyable! It was hot...but I didn't notice..
We arrived during Tommy Outlaw's set which set the mood for the night up pretty decently. Tracks were played...which...I cannot recall. I believe a bit of everything was dropped...a la... some commercial house, hard house, and electro...which definately was not lacking...at least in terms of quantity.
Donald Glaude and Jelo Pudding hit the decks...and that's when the night became a slurry of dirtiness. It's always a circus when the original dirty clown comes to town. The people's mother fucking Malboro!!! His hair was palm tree-er than ever, and his expressions were ridiculousness. Jelo's too!...in fact, it was quite amusing to watch both of them on and off the decks. It was a typical oh my glaude set, but as many have stated it could have been much better. Music selection was on par - those disgusting floorwhoring tracks that make you want to pound things: butts, ****s, walls, pillars, tables, floors, and many other inanimate things. I believe I did so to at least one of each
Lots of screaming going on...from myself! I felt like a David Ace...and the screaming competition between Donald Glaude, Jelo, and myself was quite a challenge. And the winner is....Fumasa? lol. So back to the sets...yes well, the mixing was actually better than last time, but what was really lacking was the flow of it. The back to back routine didn't really work too well; Glaude's stuff mixed with Jelo's was quite contrasting. Glaude focused on the constantly banging goods, while Jelo tended to rock it through lower and higher levels, which was pretty good, but didn't work as a unison. Most people would agree that Jelo opening with Glaude playing a solo set would have made more sense. Regardless it was a super fun set, full of tricks, and odds and ends. I like my tunes odd.
Couldn't remember most of the tracks played, but it was electro-hard-acid house, a mix of those in no particular order. Moment(s) of the night for me was hearing A Bit Patchy twice!! This tune is the official dirty clown anthem..and we usually have a little dance that we like to perform whenever it was played. I LOVED how Geli, Farah, and even a bunch of randoms decided to join in!! Definately some fine substitutes since the clowns were absent. 2 more tracks that come to mind are some remix of an old hip hop song...you know, the one that goes
"I said a hip, hop, the hippie
the hippie dibby hip hop hop and you don't stop
to rock it to the bang bang boogie
say up jump the boogie,
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat
Now what you hear is not a test
cause we're rappin to the beat...to the beat"
followed by an orchestra of garbage like noises. Mental. Excuse my ignorance, as I should know the track, but I don't. Perhaps some of the hip hoppers on here could help? Jenners? lol.
Another tune was the Jacques Le Cont remix of From Disco To: Disco. Great set peak time track
The dirty duo played from around 12:30 to 4:30. Afterwords, both of them decided to venture on to the dance floor for some dancing and chats. Seriously, both Glaude and Jelo's down to earth nature is awesome. Super friendly folk.
Evan Activate went on after words to close the night. He continued to pick up the pace, not exceedingly taking the tunes to higher levels, as most people were pretty dead from the madness that went on before. First time really paying attention to his set, and I was pleased. Would check him out again.
We left sometime around 5:20ish, but that was just the beginning of the night for a lot of us. The party continued onwards for 12 more hours...but I won't even dare mention what went on...you can imagine the antics... the stupid video of yours truly speaks for itself..lol.
I can't wait to check out O Lounge again sometime in the near future. I cannot stress how much fun the party was, and the TAs that managed to make it all the way out were awesome. I had a blast with all of you! Slopiness! I can attest that I don't plan on being this way as often...bwahahahaha. Started off drunk...ended up...jolly.
I usually add colored fonts and big letters to things that I love in my review but I'm lazy...so instead...
some moments of huh? (before, during, and after)
- Being asked by someone for a "full body massage"
- "There's music playing?"
- "Ballerina", "Figure Skater" "[insert another fruity child activity here]"
- Patrick the ugly, yet cute, sketchy pink star from Spongebob Squarepants doll
- "Ruth rode on the motorcycle with me...and in the end...I rode...ruthlessly."
LOL. Ok..I'll stop
One more thing...memorable pics..courtesy of Farah..
Geli and Cribby doing the dirty clown dance to Switch - A Bit Patchy..

Getting Glaude to do the creature face! <3

Leaving my mark at O Lounge, in other ways besides my feet..

/end attentionwhore mode.

RUN DMC LYRICS "It's Like That" [Run] Unemployment at a record highs People coming, people going, people born to die Don't ask me, because I don't know why But it's like that, and that's the way it is [D.M.C.] People in the world tryin to make ends meet You try to ride car, train, bus, or feet I said you got to work hard, you want to compete It's like that, and that's the way it is Huh! [Run & D.M.C. alternate lines for the remainder of the song] Money is the key to end all your woes Your ups, your downs, your highs and your lows Won't you tell me the last time that love bought you clothes? It's like that, and that's the way it is Bills rise higher every day We receive much lower pay I'd rather stay young, go out and play It's like that, and that's the way it is Huh! Wars going on across the sea Street soldiers killing the elderly Whatever happened to unity? It's like that, and that's the way it is Disillusion is the word That's used by me when I'm not heard I just go through life with my glasses blurred It's like that, and that's the way it is Huh! You can see a lot in this lifespan Like a bum eating out of a garbage can You noticed one time he was your man It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is You should have gone to school, you could've learned a trade But you laid in the bed where the bums have laid Now all the time you're crying that you're underpaid It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is Huh! One thing I know is that life is short So listen up homeboy, give this a thought The next time someone's teaching why don't you get taught? It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is If you really think about it times aren't that bad The one that flexes with successes will make you glad Stop playing start praying, you won't be sad It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is Huh! When you feel you fail sometimes it hurts For a meaning in life is why you search Take the bus or the train, drive to school or the church It's like that, and that's the way it is Here's another point in life you should not miss Do not be a fool who's prejudiced Because we're all written down on the same list It's like that (what?) and that's the way it is Huh! You know it's like that, and that's the way it is Because it's like that, and that's the way it is [Repeat these lines til fade] |

Its been one year since myself and Mark created Nightdreamer. April 1st 2006 Jelo headlined the first Nightdreamer party. After a few years of doing events in Hamilton & being a long time Jelo fan, having him play for one of my jams was a huge for me. A year whole year went by of Holy fuck!! I cant belive theyre playing for Nightdreamer. And to cap the year off with Jelo and Donald Glaude was nothing short of a nightdream.
The week leading upto the night was a little stressful for me with making sure everything was in order, and a few family things I was dealing with. Once I had confirmation that Donald flight had landed ontime it was a huge relief for Mark and I. It was time to get the night started.
I worked the door for the first part of the night. So I didnt get to catch Tommy Outlaws set. His selections sounded like they were getting everyone going. I could hear the cheers from downstairs, and the good remarks people were saying as they went outside for ciggy breaks.
I came upstairs once Glaude and Jelo hit the decks. Holy shit did they hit it! Everyone went nutty all night. Watching the antics between Jelo and Glaude we just as entertaining as the heavy beats they were throwing down. PUT YER FUCKIN HANDS UP! seemed to be the theme of the night. I dont think Ive ever sweated so much at O Loungeman was it hot that night. Evan played a wicked fun set too. It had a cool electro-rock feel to it.
Huge thanks to Donald Glaude, Jelo, Evan and Tommy. They all had a big part in making this night happen. And Patrick, Sasha, Mark, Guilio for doing what they do. Everyone that came out deserve a big big thanks too! Its you guys that make the party, and without you we couldnt have had such a stellar year. Matt Lunnen, Brent Porter, Evan, Jose, Cyrus, Jelo, The Dukes, Mute and Laki, Bole, Beta, Anita, Chris Vench, Sydney Blu, Nathan Barato, Jeff Button, Carlo Lio, Vinyl Junkies, Hatiras, Macca, Peter, Hamish, Tamara, Scandal House Clothing, Babee Funk, Brad Copeland, Chris Briscoe, Ilija Katic, Greg Gow, Ilija Katic, Trance At Mac, Karim, Justin, Dj Ampz, Kidd Little, Dave Magak and everyone who comes out every week. Huge thanks and we hope Nightdreamers next year will be just as good.
looks like it was a great night and ive heard reviews from people in person that it was a dirty dirty night!
congrats on the success of bringing a top 50 dj to hamilton!
we all look forward to what is to come ANOTHER year from now...
