and another thing. maybe it's because i work in front of a computer a lot, but how do people have bright colored desktops? i prefer mind dark, and have my contrast+brightness around the 55 to 60 mark.

I rarely ever see my desktop...so it really doesn't matter to me what's on it.

meh yeah, i don't see my desktop except when i start up my computer really, i don't have any icons or anything on it, so contrast and bright colors don't bother me

Hey Mezzir, what's the calendar/to do list program you have there?

yeah usually at work or home, i have at least 7 windows open, and all of them on top of the other ([ALT]+[TAB] ftw), and none maximized. i got this tick when all my windows are a darkish color, and then i see peeping in the background something bright.

btw, i sometimes miss my VnC (^^) at work before we moved to DRACs. at first i didn't like the transition, but now i love it, because it has better response time than other remote apps (VnC, Remote Desktop, pcAnywhere, etc.)

ahhhh i always maximize everything unless i'm dragging stuff between two windows
just feels like wasted space otherwise

lol that's the thing. i am usually either dragging objects or manipulating material, and i need to see filenames by either dragging them to the command prompt, or hitting the [TAB] key to get files at work..

[edit] oh yeah, now that i think about it, all my co-workers have a dark desktop like i do, yet i am the only one with the taskbar on the side.

ah yeah
not too long ago i discovered when dragging files and shit, you can click+hold, hover over the window, and the window'll become active, no keyboard or resizing required

Indeed. It's going to save me a small fortune in post-its (of which I currently have 19 stuck to my desk and wall )

Finally got sick of Windows and wiped it last week and am running Ubuntu with Beryl as a window manager. It's sex, and the four desktops lets me keep everything more organized.
