well quite honestly, those pics gave me just the little push to listen to something

not that I was not honest about her productions (which i didn't like)

If the music is good, I take the creator serious. If it's not that good, and producer is only starting out, the same. But people who stick at making crappy songs should get another hobby (or not care when people say it's not good)

Posted by Waxen on Apr-17-2002 02:41:

Like I said... I would have loved to listen to her productions, but I am on 56k... 56k sucks!... You can't do anything with it.. so I just didn't bother.. so I decided to post a comment on her pics instead.. telling her how dumb that was. :P

Im sorry, this isn't suppose to come off as being mean.. Im just saying... pictures of yourself aren't necesarry in getting people to listen to your stuff. I wouldn't post pics as if you are putting an ad in for a singles site with a heart throbbing at the top. lol... it's kinda lame if you ask me. Im sure the guys like it.. but even they won't take you seriously.

Oke I will talk about your music and what I think about it

Lets start with another way.
Like some one else already said I think the snare drum and the open hihat are a bit low in pitch. But I like the old computer drum sounds you used. also that distorted hammond sound at 2:24 min is great.
Personaly I wood speed this song up a litle bit not to mutch onle a few BPM to give it some more drive.
Try to make the pads sound bigger. You can get that effect by adding a bit more reverb and also put some chorus on them.
Nice melody in the song.

Next

Become one

I'm playing become one now and here the hihat is at the right pitch if you put this hihat in another way it will make that song better.
Nice edears on the sound effects in this song but try to make them sound more special I think play with effect on them and stuff.
same thing about the pad sounds make them a bit bigger.
put up the volume of the main melody A bit to make it a bit more clear to hear. Try to do something with the voices to bring them out a bit more but dont put them louder in the mix. Maybe put one of them at the intro of the song. For idears listen to the vynil of PPK Reserection. Do something with the percussion instruments to make them sound a bit more live. Like volume and position. Also give them some reverb.
Well I really like this song. Its spacy and has a nice tempo and feel to it.

Night light radio edit.

Pitch up the claps Put that kind of low acid sound that comes in around 2:20 softer in the mix to make it come together with the bass line. I like the melody in this song verry mutch somehow. nice snare fills in this song. This song is great to make a harder progressive mix for.

Looking for paradise.

I'm thinking you just like low pitched hihats well if its done to make it sound like that leave it. The sound qualety of this one is not that good I think. There is a sample that makes a hi pitched frequency and is verry loud and clear to hear Try to fix that and the song wil be a lot better. If you leave it like this and play it loud on a big soundsystem a lot of people wil get pain in the ears from the hi frequenties that sample makes.

So a long post this one.

What did you use to make this song? The sound is not always verry good but When I listen to music people make I always listen to the idears and stuff. If people have good idears but don't have a lot of money to get expencive gear the have to use what they have to try to make it sound as good as possible.

Oke I will stop talking now.

wow, nice review sergedg!

Wish I could get such an in depth review of my tunes! I think when it all comes down to it, the posting of the pics was a good idea...

Now I just need to find some good pics..

Posted by Superscope on Apr-17-2002 22:09:

K, my personal opinion, good looks arent everything in life, and when it comes to making music, they are NOTHIN! Dont get me wrong theres nothing damaging bout bieng eye candy, but when u post in an "Amature music producers" Forum pics of yourself, instead of placing them in some "Amature model forum", expect a few raised eyebrows.

So once again its all about the feel for the music. I had a good thorough listen to all ure tracks and its just not my style, sorry, but its my opinion. Im sure theres ppl round here who will dig ure material, but unfortunately, its not me.

Now fair enough i have a website with pics of me on it, but they are just a little extra sumthing to brighten up my site, with my music downloads taking center stage!

But who am i to comment, i just make beats

Yes I also like the Pro52 and fm7 softsynrhs. I laso use the junoX2 softsynth. It has a verry thik sound. If you want to get a lot of audio software from the net go in to the news groups and go to alt.binaries.sounds.utilities.

Posted by Boy trance on Apr-19-2002 01:21:

I wouldn't mind gettin more softsynths.. I too use pro52 n such... but sergedg, what do you mena by news groups?

Posted by Roach on Apr-21-2002 01:48:

Hiya illuminative,

First off, I wanna say your a very nice looking gal...

To be honest, your the first girl producer (i am assuming amature) that i have encountered that her music i can listen to. Your style is more like dream than trance, but non the less i love all the trakcs, especially "Another way"

I found that some of the loops kept going for a little longer than i would like to listen to... and off course there is nothing that a little more practice wouldn't cure, so i suggest you start spinning some of your music to get a grip on the vinyls, cuz spinning is a completely different story than a computer and a synth.

Keep us updated on your new tracks girl!

Well news groups are a bit like forums but you need a special software to read them like Agent. The news groups can have large files posted to them aswell as plain text. In the group I mentioned there is a lot off new audio software posted that you can download.

What softsynths are you looking for? Maybe I can help out.

I liked the paino thats added at the 2:24 mark, I think this track with its melody content could have been made to sound more dreamy. I would add some more ecos, more pads ( deep pads )
more Reverb. Nice track

I thought this track was cool, still sounds a bit trackerish, but the melody is nice.

Posted by kr00t0n on Apr-23-2002 15:47:

Illuminative: How long have you been producing for?

Coz your tracks are a hell of a lot better than most producers I've heard who have only been at it for about a year, but the tracks just dont sound polished/touched-up enough.

Sort of raw if you get my meaning. The samples are nice, but need tweaking, and some of them seem out of key.

Other than that, good work and keep at it, they only get better with time.

I'm on 56k as well at the present so i won't D/l it and to be honest i doubt i'd have the time anyways. Funny that your're from vladivostok cause my sister was travelling through Vladivostok last year. And she brought home a few too many bottles of Stoli so of course i had to help her out of this predicament(ahem!!)
