It gets to a point where moving the pitch just one notch 0.05 +/- makes it to fast or to slow hence having to touch the platter to keep it in but why pay all that money (1000) to have to do that! |
DOWMLOADED FROM AUDIOJELLYS

Oh my fucking God.
Finny, YOU are the problem, not your CDJs. RJT was simply stating that if you beatmatch the tracks well enough in the first place then the tracks won't drift for at least a minute without having to make corrections with the platter. Please don't tell me you're using the BPM readout to try and match your tracks.

Im going to have to swerve to Finny's side a little bit on this.
Of course you CAN 99,9% match the tunes with 0.05% pitch increment. But I fail to see the point. Beatmatching so accuratelly would require heaps of time just to check if the beats are perfect before mixing. And I think that it would be a total waste.
A lot more convenient way is to beatmatch "accuratelly enough" and then just nudge the platter in tiny increments while mixing (you are the one with headphones --> you can hear when the beats are a little of the soonest).
And when the beats drift too fast to your liking you can always adjust pitch while in the mix.
I think that this kinda approach is a lot more dynamic and allows more versatility in mixes.
ps: Im not advocating trainwrecks with this post. I think that the audience should never ever be able to hear clashing beats..
judging someone before you've listened to them is so wrong heres a link to my set called B.c.d listen to it and then judge me

Dude no one is questioning if you can mix or not.
You come on here spouting off that CDJ800's are shit coz they don't auto beatmatch & the tracks won't "lock" long enough for you. You say you find making pitch adjustments annoying. Why do you bother mixing or DJing if the basics irritate you? It's like Michael Schumacher moaning his F1 car doesn't have an auto gearbox, electric windows or air con. Why didn't you try the 800's before you bought em?
Email Pio with your beef & tell them all about your findings - sounds like their quality control/research & development departments really fucked up when they released the CDJ800...
PS I'm downloading your mix, need summat to listen to this avo

So how's everyone doing this fine day? Hope your mixing's going well.
doing well, thanks!
Anyone heard about the new cdj800mk2s, they're the talk of the day!! I just got them and they are amazing, I can beatmatch so easily with them!!
Also the platter has a better feel and it is almost just like the 1000!
The funniest part was when I read, 'how am i supposed to EQ and keep making adjustments to the platter?'
damn boy all I can say is you're lucky you didn't learn on technics because as a perfectionist you'd be forced to ride the pitch which in essence would mean you'd have to keep a hand on the pitch fader at all times try to EQ doing that junior
LOOK IF YOUR HAPPY WITH HALF DECENT MIXES THEN THATS YOUR CHOICE
Please don't shout. Also please don't make assumptions. Please accept that not everyone exhibits the same proficiency given a standardized set of tools.
DJs have been doing seamless mixes on beat to hell turntables for at least 40 years now.
At this point it's clear he's just taking the piss, best to just let this one die at this point
