why is that?
Because it winds up sounding like a huge mess!
Live is great, but just because you CAN remix every track and loop and do effect doesn't mean you have to. Resulting in most people just mixing track to track... which means they shouldn't really be using Live
Then there are those uber-talented people who are absolutely amazing with it.

| Originally posted by Inertia i agree with that, but i think the poster was referring to producers doing liveshows, ie. only playing their own material. |

some guys do some great fucking original liveshows.
check out Alex Under doing his shizzle. fucking great. you can ID his tracks in it, but its like one huge ass megamix.
i think Ableton is best used for these cases. unless you're Richie Hawtin and people send you their tracks + the loops to build the tracks as well so you can fuck around too, plain old Ableton mixing gets boring.
controllers like the Monodeck II are more for live production than using Ableton as a "special turntable".
Yeah I think it's totally great for people like that.
My concern is all the moderately good DJ's who feel the need to get Ableton because people like them are using it. You really have to look at what your capabilities are and if it's really warranted.
There's still NOTHING wrong with rocking a party on 2 decks and a mixer!
