Because they work so hard at getting the attention of people by flailing their arms about during their sets?

I think AVB is the true champion of arm-flailing.

I love this thread, finally some EDM talk going on in this forum
I think its because people at first find trance more interesting because of its faster beats and catchy melodies. While house is more slower beats not as exciting. Also Trance and house are more easily accessible than other EDM genres since its more popular. Its usually the 19 year olds and the young ones that go nuts because its probably their first time seeing Armin or Tiesto or whatever. As for autographs and taking pics with them, I don't see what so important about that. Its just a bragging tool to showoff to everyone.
Jenny just wants to push people's buttons today (and every other day, but especially today), so I wouldn't take any of her posts seriously.
Sarah: I phrased it that way because this exact same discussion's been had in every sub-forum several times; I keep seeing it again and again even though I only check the forums sporadically now. To pretend you don't actually know the answer either means you've been totally oblivious to this forum's content and to the industry at large for 5 straight years, or you're having trouble accepting the well-known truth. Or, as Cosmic Fur pointed out, maybe you were trying to instigate something. That's not an accusation, just a logical 3rd possibility.
As for the comments that trance DJs magically bring their fans to emotional bliss and are treated as gods because of this inexplicable power, you all know that's a load of horse shit. Even if we put aside the fact that a piece of carpet fuzz can instill giddy euphoria in somebody who's sufficiently mashed, all the trance DJs are actually doing is stringing together tracks born out of someone else's creativity and sweat, often doing a very poor job of it. It's rare indeed that a DJ adds anything original to the pre-existing work, and the ones who do are usually not the ones treated as gods.
And no, I'm not insinuating that this is unique to trance DJs, because it isn't. The point is that the differences are inherent in the musical structure and in the fans' personalities, not the talent or style of the DJ.

an interest in a genre of music has to start somewhere. it's like when i here people say that metallica or dragonforce are the hardest metal known to man. its not, its just the most mainstream and easily accessible so it seems that way. The way people are talking its as if the fans of a certain type of music are a religion or political affiliation that never changes, or that they were born a pretentious music asshole. Peoples tastes in music are always evolving and changing and trying to slander people for liking one thing and label them accordingly is like punching the air.
i still like metallica but im posting on these forums so my tastes have expanded a bit since i was 14 but im not going to deny my roots either.

Originally posted by oldschool420 Again just because you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks. What if someone who loves trance said " all people who listen to house are beginners and kids". you wouldn't like that would you? so who made you the judge of which is better?

Originally posted by electro funk i don't care what others say. i am open to others opinions but to say im not a musician because i don't enjoy what i used to? how does that make any sence? so if eric clapton used to like the opera and says he hates it now, does that mean he is not a musician anymore? just say u don't agree with me, don't make ridiculous comments that make no sence.

Originally posted by DigiNut That's a good analogy, really. Like religion or politics, you have a majority of fence-sitters with weak preferences who prefer the status quo, a sizable number of fringe groups who are totally batshit crazy with their narrow preferences and hatred of any other group, and a tiny minority of people who actually think for themselves. And, like religion or politics, everybody thinks that they're in the 3rd group, and the 2nd group is particularly unrelenting in its quest to prove it. It's just human nature.
