spring break 2006 i set up a trip to visit my friend in palm beach and told my parents i was staying with her. after 2 days of trying to convince her to come to miami with me for WMC she refused, so i got on a train by myself to miami(i had never been there before). i got off at some random stop downtown after having gone all the way to the end of the route and back cause i didnt know where the fuck i was then walked around downtown with my 2 big bags for 3 hours until i found the sketchiest little hotel in an even sketchier alleyway. i left my things there, went to nocturnal by myself, met up with a random person i knew was down there but had never met, and proceeded to have the most ridiculous 4 days of my entire life.

also, last summer i would make the drive from buffalo to toronto every single weekend (either thursday or friday till sunday) with practically my entire wardrobe in my car crashing at different friends houses every weekend (thanks guys i love you), all the while seeing some of the best djs and partying with the sweetest people ive ever met.

as sketchy as i might have looked, i never had problems at the border because i was technically working in the city and always freshened up right before crossing : )

I can relate, I did the same except while in Barcelona, last min decided to go to Ibiza, managed to look up a hostel 2 days before and booked it to Valencia beforehand. Got to Valencia @ 11:30pm, was nothing was open tourist help wise but I managed to get a taxi to the hostel, I still had no clue where it was in the square I was in. All I could see is that there was a church. I looked for the hostel on the sidestreets of the square, couldn't find it. I wasn't spending too much time b/c there were shady looking people in the square, beside the church in the middle of everything. I look more closer and find the hostel CONNECTED to the church. Needless to say, I had ablast. Met two New Yorkers there and took a bus/ferry to Ibiza. (never met them before that point but we were headed in the same direction) I love when that works out.

One year in Miami, three of us wanted to go see Danny Howells at BED one night. We had emailed in our names for guestlist but what we didn't know, was that like a million people did the same. The club was to open at 10 pm, but we got there for like 8:30 pm. After waiting in a mob for about 2 hours, the three of us were going to give up. Considering that people we knew from Florida couldn't get in, we knew that we weren't going anywhere. Just before we decided to throw the towel in, some random guy showed up with printed invite and it was for him and a guest. Rather than take in the guy that he was chatting too, he rather take a girl in - so thus I got in. Ended up getting him a drink inside (which cost me an arm and a leg) but it was so worth it.

I didn't necessarily come for a dj, but we drove 9 hours up from nyc, stayed up all day, then stayed up for the party, sayed up at afterhours party for a few hours, then I drove 9 hours back....not sure why I wasn't tired!

Not crazy... I paid more for that to see Moby a couple of weeks ago. I would have no issues paying more either.

BUT, I do feel sorry for you man, and anyone else who paid $75 to see Tiesto.
