i wish he would bring back the sounds like "pumpkin", "bling bling", "dark roast", etc. i think i have to hear this track in a clearer and lnger sample to truly judge it.
i know we can't dwell on the past but i wasn't really a fan of his latest stuff: for example, "back by any demand" and the one wth the arctic monkeys.
hopefully he'll bring back some aliases like sam sharp or sandler in the future... but props for getting this far so quickly!

Oh I like SvD.
It's just he's an imposter to the Sander title which rightfully belongs to Kleinenberg. When SvD has as much credit and rep as Sander K does, he can challenge for the Sander title

oh and chach, thanks for the credit on the video... lol |
lol
sorry !

Oh, I like Trance. Hell, I wouldn't be here if I didn't. I'm just not a fan of anything that has come out in the last three years or so. I still like to preview the new stuff to see just what is out there and who is causing all of the hubbub. I also still preview the new stuff because there's still a tiny, tiny, tiny part of me that is holding out hope for the genre. Tiny is the keyword there, though. |
you know, i was just like you. then i made a little bit of effort and made it out to some trance events. and not tiesto or pvd or armin. i went to 2 armin shows last year even though he didnt do as bad as i was expecting, i was still bored to hell. one outta 4 pvd shows is any good. and the local trance sucks ass. i mean really who wants to see george acosta every other week? svd just has that techy style that i find so awesome. and his sets dont even compare to his live shows. the way he works the tracks is amazing. plus his crowd interaction, you can just tell he loves his job. not like pvd who is just a fucking robot behind the decks.
really, the only trance i enjoy now a days is svd. other than that, i just jam to older stuff (james holden balance and prior, james zabiela's early days, sasha's older stuff, the old school pvd days, etc etc)
in general i think the majority of music coming out sucks balls. its like they (the artists) dont put as much effort into it anymore. which is sad. but with sander, it's easy to see the effort. thats one of the many reasons i love the guy so much.

I still catch my local DJs who spin Trance. These are the people who spun better than the international Trance headliners I'd seen them open for. However, I still don't find myself interested at all. The only Trance DJ who does anything for me is Ferry, and he's the only one to consistently deliver each time I've seen him.
I apologize if my personal tastes find current Trance to be lacking.

I miss trance from about 1998-2002
.But some good stuff is still released here and there.

lol, hey man, if thats the way you feel then its okay. no one is saying you have to love trance or have to love svd. maybe your love for it will come back in a few years, i disappeared in me for 3-4.
i do agree with you that the smaller djs def have more talent and love for what they do than the international ones, but at least down here for me, it got very boring, very quick.
i dunno how you can like ferry and not like other trance. imho, ferry isnt anything special, some of his stuff is way too epic for me. but you know, whatever floats your boat, im not gonna sit here and tell you what you should like and not like. we've all got our different tastes, and at the end of the day if we all just support the music then its all works out.

nahh, dude now your going to far, because we all know that ferry is basically the only top trance dj that just doesn't sity there and beatmatch. Hes like the only producer that doesn't put friggen cheesy 2005 synth sounds in every other of his songs. I know you got your taste and everything but facts are facts and the fact here is that ferry with no doubt stands out, if thats good or bad thats a matter of opinion.

this is the way i see it... ive seen ferry twice and i had fun at both shows, but i wasnt very impressed either time. it wasnt bad, not by a mile, but like i said, there was nothing special about it. i mean come on, he really didnt need to play punk or rock your body rock. why does he play those tracks at every show? you can draw a huge comparison to tiesto or pvd with that. not that im going to because he is not the same.
i used to enjoy ferry in the earlier days (prior to 2003) though, but maybe it was just in the time period that i saw him (jan 2004 and june 2005) that is the reason i wasnt impressed. but even any of his newest productions werent that great. beautiful is a filler track. lef wasnt anything to listen to more than once.
but hey, if you like him, then more power to you. i actually saw him during wmc this year (not at his show but a invite only party), probably no more than a couple of feet away from me and my girlfriend. we probably coulda got a picture, but there were too many people talking to him and stuff so we didnt really want to bother. id hate it if people bothered me all the time. anyway, he seemed really good about talking to everyone and taking pics with them, cool guy. gotta respect that. tiesto or pvd would castrate you if you asked for a pic.

It actually sounds nothing like other trance.
Not the biggest SvD guy myself....
First time i heard it i wasnt impressed, but after 3rd or 4th listen, i'm really getting a groove to it.
Keeps a really good beat throughout with excellent use of the hi-hats

ahh...a lot of you guys are funny.
anyhow, i REALLY REALLY wish i went to a sander (or any of his aliases) show in 2005. i went to one in march but he didn't play any of his older tracks ...
before anyone gets snippy with me, i KNOW it's 2 years later but WHATEVER.

i saw him twice during wmc and i was kinda hoping for the same thing. but in a way its a good thing that he can leave those tracks behind. it means you'll never the get the same set from him. hell even both times i saw him the sets were different. yeah he played a few of the same tracks, but for the most part, it was too different shows.
