thanx, man!!!! but try to find me a store that ships worldwide.... cause I live in Israel..........

god dammit!!!!! with thease prices I'll end up getting a Gemini mixer....... lol..... at least it would match my CD Player and rack case......
thease mixers are SOOOOOO OVERPRICED!!!!!

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Jun-26-2002 21:45:

yea, they are. I'll admit they are definitly not cheap to build, and high end mixers actually use some really nice top end components, nothing like what you'd find in a gemini.. but the profit margin is WAY too high.

you really should look at the pcv275 if you dont wanna spend much cash... it's about the best mixer you'll get without paying too too much.

yes, I've heard alot about that PCV-275.... and it really looks impressive..... but it has only 3 channels and it's 10".....
I need a 19" with at least 4 channels..... (sux to me me, eh?)...

and about the Gemini mixers, I found that the new Gemini CS-19 has just about everything I'm looking for:
* 19" rack mountable
* 5 channels with EQ's, gain, and volume leds on each channel
* 8 line, 3 phono, 3 mic +eq's for each mic (not that I'm gonna use a mic but hey...)
* assignable crossfader with different curves to select from
* illuminated cueing
* master, booth, recording, and 2 zone outputs
* main outputs (master, booth, recording) are ballanced (XLR+RCA)
* front panel AUX input + spare loop connectors
* all connections are gold

* CHEAP!!!! only 350$ (woopie!!!)

here's a pic of it:

what do you think????

Boo. Gemini sucks, in my opinion.

There are cheaper vestax ones:

The PMC-15MKII

PMC-15mkII

A lot cheaper than the 400, and probably a LOT better than that gemini.

I've heard sooooooo many ppl saying that Gemini Sucks... but I own a Gemini CD player and I think it kicks the ass out of almost every other dual CD player I've seen ..... can anyone tell me why everyone says that Gemini Sucks??????

wow!!! they both look great!!! and they are definately affordable.....
I'll go hunt down the prices in Israel for those things..... maybe they are available here in a reasonable price.....

I think the bad rap on gemini has more to do with thier mixers than anything... which have a reputation for breaking, needing fader replacements all too often, EQ knobs getting worn out all too quick, etc... just general mediocre build quality.

for the price range, i dont think they are that bad.. if you think about most lower-cost mixers, reports of components needing replacement often is fairly common...

yeah, i'm not sure why those 2 are so much cheaper than the vestax 400. probably just way better components.

as for gemini.. they are just.. lower end that's all. they aren't total shit, but they are not even close to the best either. same with numark.

vestax is much higher quality, and rane or allen and heath are even better.

Posted by HyPeRSoNiC on Jun-27-2002 21:13:

oh....... ic...... okay. you 2 convinced me. I'll stay away from Gemini mixers.... I don't want any parts breaking out in the middle of a gig.... hehe... although I heard their turntables are pretty good.... but I'll discuss that in another thread I'll open when I save up enough money for TTs......

anywayz, how about Phonic?? ever heard about them?? right now I own a Phonic mixer and I'm pretty satisfied from the sound quality and the durability (I have it for over 2.5 years, no damage whatsoever!!! still in top condition and working like a charm!! )
but it's a DM-3030.... that doesn't have an EQ on each channel. it has only a main EQ for each speaker..... and that's why I want a new one, that has an EQ for each channel....
I was in Phonic.com just now, and I found a new model..... the MX-505..... it's identical to the Vestax PCV-150, and has all it's features.... here's a pic:

what do you ppl think??

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-27-2002 21:52:

um... i don't know much about phonic, but i know that they aren't one of the leaders in mixers.

get whatever you like mate, if yours works, then you have experience with it..

course DJM3000 would be better, but also probably 10 times as much.

I know that!!!! and it looks better too!!! (I like the black.. ).
but the thing is, it costs 10 times as much!!!!
and I DON'T HAVE 1,000$ GOD DAMMIT!!!!! woops... sorry... got a little carried away...... lol.
anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if I had the money, I would go for the Pioneer DJM-3000 without even thinking about it!!! but I don't so I guess I'll have to do some "investigation".... I know someone that has lots of connections with DJ equipment stores....
I talked to him...... he said he'll try and fix me up something good for a reasonable price... I'll just have to wait and see... anywayz, I told him to look up a price for the Vestax PCV-150, and for the Pioneer DJM-3000 (just in case...)..... anywayz, I'll let you know what I got in the end, and I'll post up a pic of my setup if you want, too
thanx alot, Johnsmith and Meridian...... you don't know how much you 2 helped me.

Posted by JohnSmith on Jun-28-2002 15:40:

You are welcome. I recomend you get one of the cheaper vestax ones if you can't afford the pioneer.

and if you are gonna go lower than that, get a gemini or numark.

I wouldn't get that phonic thing if i were you.

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Jun-28-2002 16:00:

no prob hyper... glad we could help.

good plan on trying to go with a vestax.....they make decent stuff that isnt very expensive, unless you get thier real high-end stuff...
