There's already a thread for online shopping which gets updated regularly. All the online shopping places with recommendations are in there.
Trust me not to have the link ready though

You just pay using PayPal
Since you used a credit card you can refuse payment if you get ripped off.
I wont buy anything from anyone unless I use PayPal or an Escrow service.
Unless I know I can trust the person, of course

| god what a mess. i suggest people keep it within ebay, at leat thenm your insured etc. and ebay can help deal with these sorts of things. for the small fees you pay to list an item, i tihnk its worth it. |
Trust me ebay does not sort it out when you have a problem, firstly they fob you off to paypal then paypal seriously mess you around, i have had some experience with paypal messing me around big style

Swamper, you absolutely RULE.. this forum rocks..
i have a question for you though.. if someone offers to buy something, are you allowed to say that you will buy it for a higher price?
someone ed me for that today, and i was just wondering if it was a mistake to do that.

I think, you should sell to the initial person if you agreed on the deal. I don't think it's good business ethics to say yes i'll sell you this item at $5 then for someone to say to you next day i'll give you $10 and you tell person 1 tough luck. Of course, you'll think, sh%t i wish i had of sold it for the ten dollars, but look at it from the other end, say you really wanted a record, agreed a price with someone then next day s/he says sorry mate someone else offered me twice as much and can't sell you it anymore, you wouldn't be happy.
I think the best thing to do is have a semi-feedback thing, there is a forum i go onto in the UK called av forums and for their buy/sell section there is feedback, so that way you will know if someone is untrustworthy as their feedback will show this and is similar to ebay, ie after your purchase you leave +/-/neutral feedback with a comment to make
ie item exactly as described. Excellent seller...
