Ok... here is my submission. a bit of an experimental piece, on 5/4 rather than the usual 4/4. It's on 152BPM... good luck with the mixing

Link

Choose "Mongoose"

I'll be back somtime with a tribal-ish track from my Buzz alias (Sueek) too.

Thanks all for now. I'll have a listen to the other submissions too, later on

Posted by cybernetica on Jun-09-2007 20:22:

5/4? Thats a big favor youre doing to the DJ here, lol!
Otherwise this track is great, I'm sure I'll have a place for you in the mix.

Posted by Takkra on Jun-09-2007 22:25:

does your mix still have a place? I think i've got something interesting too.. I made it during one of my "drunk production sessions". it was one of those, make myself laugh days hah

"Alice"

BPM: 146
Genre: Dark Psy
Bit Rate: 320 kbps

This is the most current verison of this track...I think. I may have changed the mixing of the drums vs bass sounds...Track sounds good anyway...If there is any mixing issues let me know, and I'll hook you up phatty Mr. Cyberman.

Posted by cybernetica on Jun-11-2007 12:57:

Takkra: Wow! I'm really impressed.. this one's got the Takkra rythm but in a PsyTech way. Heavy banging stuff, liking a lot!

Frosty: Ahhh, the japanese porn tune .. I think I like this new cleaned up mixing, nothing to complain about.

I would like to include both your tracks!

Maybe when you're producing something as assignment..

But when you're just a little "off the world", believe me it is much easier to make you "fly". you can imagine and come up with stuff quicker, this is my experience though. plus when you're hammering on a track and you drank some alcohol you won't mind to let it rest if you still dont have inspiration, you'll be like; oh whatev.. instead of a sober "No I hve to finish this".

I am not stressing the fact that you should drink alcohol, mind you. I am simply stating this fact because it works for me. Haven't you ever noticed on a party that the awesome music simply feels more "trancy" when you're under influence of alcohol just a little?
And when you get home all tired, don't you just wanna crawl over the floor, into you're little studio to let loose all the inspiration you gained that night?

Well I do, I produced great tracks, (saying myself lol), when I was sober, I felt they were so good that I stood up behind my computer, opened up the volume and just started jumping to my own track. It's a great feeling, which you can "emulate", however small the amount, with a nice can of beer, of couple of glasses of some good wine .

I would never drink while I was producing when I still had school, simple due to the consequences it might have the morning after in school, ringing ears, light headache.. It's not a pleasure when you're doing final year math, chemistry or physics (think its the 12th grade or something? im not sure, in Netherland its just the 6th class of college).
Anyway, now I finished my exams, so I spent the few night that I have for myself producing, most of the time having drank some wine
(i was just raised in a family where they have to drink wine around 21.00 lol) but everything just feels easier.

HOWEVER.

While being under influence makes you more "free of mind", it also decreases your accucary (?dont think its spelled right). So when it comes to final mixing, or mastering like some may call it, you might just want to wait until your sober again, personally I'd like to rest a day doing some other track, and then mixing and eq'ing the track I finished a couple of days ago .

I really do hope this opens up your mind a little!

Cheers!

i am not talking about party, i am talking about the process itself, production like you said, requires accuracy and precision, yes if you smoke weed or drink, you may have ideas that you havent thought of, however if you practice your creativity, you will have same if not even better ideas while you are sober. As far as party goes, yes you suppose to drink or experiment with drugs if your on the dance floor, it will expand your mind so that you can really enjoy the trance music, again, producer should be as sober as a judge while producing. However i do agree with you, that sometimes it helps the creativity and other aspects, everything should be in moderation, again whatever works for you. I know for a fact that Astral projection is on smack, along with other psy virtuozo's. Yet their work is considered to be one of the best, and i dont think its because of whatever they are influenced by, it is them who make the music, its not alcohol or weed or w/e, it is still that person who makes it so generally, in my opinion, producers should stay away from that shit, take me for example, i smoke weed and it does not alter or effect my abilities as a producer, in fact it makes me more sensitive to what is going on in the mix.

would love to see a list with the tracks already included in the mix.

Posted by Drik on Jun-13-2007 23:18:

Here's the first mix of my track. Not exactly full on psy or anything, more of a "dark" trance track with psy and orchestra influences.

Here's the link: http://www.emortal.se/music/Emortal-Fallen_Angel.mp3

Let me know what you think of it so far

Posted by MegaMan on Jun-14-2007 21:27:

nice art work

just listened to your track, everything sounds good, except the kick, i suggest you replace it. The reason for that is that it is barely present in the mix and sounds like there is a compression problem with it, at times its loud and sometimes its not that loud, kick as you know should be constant, like i said id replace the sample or boost some of the 20-40hz if your kick does carry those

that is about the only flaw i find, as far as structure and arrangement goes, i think you've done an excellent job

Posted by cybernetica on Jun-15-2007 14:43:

@ gr8ape: Your link does not work, it takes me to some video of a soccer game, I suppose thats not what you want to put into the mix?

@Drik: You say Michelle Adamson?! No kidding??
I listened to your track and I have to say, the atmosphere is superb, and the melodies amazing. Excellent work, one thing however, I agree with MegaMan, the kick is too inconstant.

Looking forward for your submissions guys & updated the list.

Yeah, mixed in the middle of the night and noticed the lack of bass today hehe, will fix

Posted by Drik on Jun-15-2007 18:41:

Ok, here is a new bass-adjusted track, wierd how blind you get after sitting in front of a track for too long

AM I the only one who saw a soccer game when I clicked the linkage?

Posted by Frost-RAVEN on Jun-17-2007 02:32:

Hey gr8apes, awesome tune, nice use of the leading tone.

Posted by cybernetica on Jun-18-2007 10:02:

gr8ape, I need a new link, this one takes me to a soccer game.

Drik: this is a really awesome tune! Now with the new mixing it sounds really almost flawless, the track has beautiful layering and a really dramatic orchestration combined with some classic psy and trance elements. Reminds me a little of the Misted Muppet, if you know them. Excellent stuff!

Just a little reminder for you guys, 2 more weeks until deadline, good luck with your choons!

Actually, you can consider that last link my final then, I haven't heard from the singer so I won't be adding her, plus, next week I'll be in Mallorca ;-)
