I've been told that the dress code shouldn't be too big of an issue. Just look good and not like a bum.

I'll be wearing nice jeans and a blue shirt. Come up and say hi!

Posted by DaveT on Jun-25-2007 00:48:

Yeah, was just told everything should be lax on all fronts but don't come looking like a bum!

BTW, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to get there early because the signups exceed capacity. :-p

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 02:20:

i'm arriving at 9-9:30, i suggest everyone do the same to make sure you make it in!

...and a good night it was!
Good seein' ya again Dave, and Lex as well. Good to meet you Frankie.

When you want to come out to Brazil, let me know, and I'll steer ya the right way.

Until my October return...

Posted by retrobyte on Jun-25-2007 10:15:

it was fantastically amazing! big thanks to everyone who showed up Dave, it was great to finally get to meet you!

Posted by skell on Jun-25-2007 10:43:

OMG, this Retrobyte (aka Christopher Norman ) guy tore the place up!

Nice meeting you Dave...I don't recall if I met any other TAs, not by nicknames at least, but it was a blast! Hope you guys had as much fun as I did! =)

A quinceanera earlier Saturday then Local Love plus The End Up Sunday morning pretty much destroyed me and couldn't make it

Posted by DaveT on Jun-25-2007 18:12:

Buying that huge bottle of gatorade on the way to Slide to be sure to drink on the way home from slide has saved me today.

I even made it into work on time!

Dead tired but other that OK I'm A-OK after last night!!!

Great meeting you too Fupaking (sorry- forgot your real name)

What a fun night....thought I was not going to make it through (since I had not slept the night before)....but then the Music got good

I enjoyed G&D alot more this time than the last time I saw them @ RS....SLIDE ROCKS!!!....but the highlight for me was definetly Christopher's last hour and the opening half of Bassbin Twins

Can't wait till your recap Rich!!

......and DAVE - I think "that guy" is still looking for you

Posted by D:Jay on Jun-25-2007 20:18:

Damn I missed a good party because I over slept

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 20:51:

wow i'm pretty fuckin tired... the night's music was completely unreal... i got in a little after 9 and the place was still kind of empty so retrobyte was playing lighter, minimal tracks. around the halfway point of his set, josh tells the lighting guy to kill the bright red lights on the floor and the place starts filling out of nowhere. i come back from having a smoke and retrobyte is tearing it up with some punchy progressive tracks, each of which he's twisting up on some slick evolution sound controller. i mean he was ON the controller for every track he dropped. it was a very lively, creative set in the sense that the dj was actually performing a unique musical experience, which would become a theme for the night. retrobyte wound it down a little as a segway into pete's set and when pete from bassbin twins stepped up, he took us on an electro/tech/techno/breaks ride that was just as impressive. again, a lot of vigorous tweaking for the majority of every track with a more advanced version of the evolution controller. being the first time i've heard christopher and pete mix, i was thoroughly impressed. now i don't know if it was a matter of 'opener inspiration' or just a new page in g&d's book, but their set was unlike any i've heard before. the tl was very beat-ridden in the first hour and void of any of their older remixes, which they used to always throw in at some point. dave was working the mixer a lot more aggressively, josh was playing some tricks on ableton and other than their own tracks such as eleven, dangerous power, enemy, sydney, the rest was a blend of techno, house and progressive. the vocal house tracks didn't come in until towards the very end. the party ended at 2 instead of 3, but in the end it was probably perfect considering it was a monday morning. now the rumor is that last night's set was recorded and if everything goes as planned (ie: licensing for tracks), the set will be published as is as their next mix album toolroom knights vol 2. if not, it should sound very similar. also the andain artist album is forecasted for release this october with an andain tour to follow.

the highlight of my night is getting some pushy asshole who was having the TIME OF HIS LIFE shoving everyone on the dancefloor ejected from the club early in the night. this guy was such a dick that i walked passed him on my way up to the front, and he full on checks me into another guy. i was like dude wtf is your problem!? and he gets in my face. many words were exchanged, but this guy sounded like a total tool and everyone around us was like 'dude let it go that guy is a complete asshole'. so i call him a punk and walk away. he pushes me again as i'm walking away and i turn around and say 'guess what? you're out of here!' and point to the door. i approach a bouncer, point the guy out, and now i have 2 other guys from the crowd behind me who are there corroborating my story and we all watch as he's instantly walked out the back exit. god bless slide security i guess when he got outside, he hit davet in the face for no reason as i found out later

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 21:02:

slide is an excellent venue with great full-bodied eaw sound, lots of sitting space and a trippy ass bar counter, but without those badly-placed led strobe lights, it's too dark for any decent pics with my little point and shoot canon...

Posted by DaveT on Jun-25-2007 21:08:

He didn't aim at my face, but yeah he got me right on it. he was just like swaying his arms out busting through people all pissed off at the security guy who was kicking him out He hit a few of us and everyone got back into his...

I was very irritated but knew just to have security take care of him. They were very patient with him but he kept coming back and then five bounces got into his face. For a few minutes there, I was ready to get it on! But I wasn't going to let it affect my night.

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 21:12:

i had the biggest shit-eating grin on my face watching him get ejected after all the bullshitting back and forth on the dance floor

Posted by Andrieux on Jun-25-2007 21:17:

Oh man I would have LOVED to throw my shoulder into a guy shoving people. You dont mess with TAs!

I've seen Krishna from 1015 do security at Slide a few times I've gone to RS, was he there? Also that guy who hit DaveT must of been from LA

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 22:24:

Dunno

i don't know the name krishna by face, but it was a big 6' white guy watching the front booth.

Posted by D:Jay on Jun-25-2007 23:19:

Was this Trouble Maker last night happen to be about 6'1", skinny, white european looking dude wearing a cap and white pull over? Was he dancing crazy like swinging his arms and hitting people and didn't care?

Because if he was ....... I'm afraid I know him

Posted by R!CH on Jun-25-2007 23:30:

he was actually an azn guy, probably 5'10, 200+ in a gray button up. he wasn't swinging his arms out that far, but he was doing this stupid-looking charging hop dance with his elbows out that required him to take up the space of 5 people. the way he pushed me was like a hockey check leaning it with the shoulder followed by an elbow shove off. it was very much an intentional 'fuck off' as opposed to an oops i bumped you! he did leave with 2 friends, i think one of them was a tall guy in a white shirt, maybe dave remembers. if you do happen to know him, tell him from me i hope he had an enjoyable ride home

LOL thats how I felt at work today too! But OMG bassbin twins-WOW OH WOW!!! Hands down best set I have seen in days. He had AMAZING track selection mixed with crazy effects and mashups. The set reminded me of Justice at mezzanine!!! G & D finally got on and there tracks where boring compared to petes-I just was not feeling them last night!!!
