We're lucky to have such a good public transportation system. Honestly, i think the subway provides excellent service for the money. where else can you travel up to twenty miles (and even more) for two dollars? How much would a taxi cost from the upper west side to JFK? 40 - 50 dollars? If you walked even two miles it would cost more with all the stops to buy food or water.

N4(BUS) for 40 minutes,2$ + E(SUBWAY) for 40 minutes, free xfer
nice and relaxing

doing the math 60$ with the 6 free rides and only 4 more for a complete month This is strictly going to work M-F. If you want the weekends as well then go for that monthly pass.

LIRR is more and saves time but the cost saving is 200+/month or 68$/month you be the judge

Only when I am in a rush or want more sleep then I take the LIRR. Other than that who else like hearing different music everyday on the 42nd st stop waiting for the E or C or A.

One more thing. I dont understand how I can get so far for 2$ yet a piece of food will cost more. Thats just me being really cheap sometimes . And who made the comment about the fatty MTA person this morning I saw one of those people and they screamed at this girl that got on the train when a person or two were leaving. I felt bad for her because he was going crazy on her but when tempers are falring and people gotta get to work you gotta respect.

Even though that has nothing to do with the subway and is completely irrelevant, it still sucks. I'm also a little pissed today because I missed my 2:52pm train from Penn because the 6 train sucks.

yeah, i can feel that pain. $239 for a month on the LIRR does suck. I'm just speaking about the subway, i think it's actually a very good deal. The weekend track work does suck, and for the most part it causes me to drive into the city. But I usually don't have problems during the week.

no matter what i prefer to pay the fare than sit in bumper to bumper LA style traffic for an hour.
