Full Metal Alchemist series is unreal, alot of adult themes (kiddies wouldnt understand), and yeah based on magic (alchemy), but its a very very deep storyline, alot of the characters life storys are in the show wich makes alot of difference to the whole show, gets very emotional but.

Fantastic show!

gantz is awesome! just dont watch them back to back. they repeat so many scenes, and the characters take about 10 min talking to themselves; not decided to run away or fight.

apart from that, awesome.

Anime doesnt beat the real cartoons like Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, Widget, Captain Planet, etc.

THATS THE WORST PART!!!! HEARING WHAT THEY ARE THINKING!!! the 1st episode in the train station FREAKED ME OUT!!!!!!!!!

yeah i like to watch a show disc after disc so its all fresh in my head and understand everything and not spacing it out and forgetting whats going on.... that and then i can move onto a nother show

By "real" you mean poorly drawn, boring, western crap, right?

Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny were really awesome.

tsubasa chronicles
solty rei
hellsing

plus a few others that ive come across on a madman sampler dvd look pretty good, i might fill in some details on some of them but those 3 atm look like good watching!

Posted by -=M=- on Oct-31-2007 01:55:

Bleach
Samurai Champloo
Afro Samurai
Deathnote
Monster
Claymore
Golden Boy (loved that one lol)

Posted by DJ Marak on Oct-31-2007 11:37:

i got thru a little bit of that sampler dvd lastnight and still have more but yeah ill get to it lol, those 3 really appealed to me!

yeah bleach rules, watched the 1st 2 discs, i told my mate what you said about the 30 or so eppisodes that are "fillers" but yeah he still wants to get onto what has been translated and are "around" cough cough!

Posted by -=M=- on Oct-31-2007 23:49:

yeah look don't get me wrong - it's still bleach which is just purely awesome but the problem is there's a few different filler arcs:

1: the story continues on a long time into the future, characters have developed/aged a bit (which the filler can fill in)
2: the story continues pretty much from where it left off... maybe 1 month after

bleach's filler is of the 2nd variety... the problem with fillers like this is that they can't play upon character development... the story really goes nowhere and once it's finished it doesnt make any references to what happened before

only good thing about it is there are some vry nice fights

Posted by DJ Marak on Nov-01-2007 08:07:

LOL FMA had some great fights in it! FMA FTW lol, totaly in love with FMA

anime thread aye ... anyone who is an anime lover here should check out the old school stuff, esp. anime series from the early 80's.

I highly recommend:

SDF Macross [known as Robotech if you've watch Agro's Cartoon Connection haha] ~ though Robotech changes the story a bit. Watch the original japanese SDF Macross for the proper ending oh it's a mecha anime - the usual transforming robot jets, though music is the central theme

Kimagure Orange Road : high school love triangle story with a bit of magic haha, may sound typical but is actually deeper than you expect.

Plenty of other legendary animes out there that doest rely on full blown action :

Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, GTO, Ranma 1/2, Kare Kano [though it was cut half way due to budget?], X-TV.
So much more but my brain is a bit dead at the moment.

Posted by Philby on Nov-01-2007 12:38:

ive got the robotech collection box, havent watched any for a while though hehe. and i didnt know they were completely different series until last year

Posted by -=M=- on Nov-02-2007 06:15:

lmfao ranma 1/2

Posted by kelsta on Nov-19-2007 04:35:

A couple of Hoyts cinemas have been showing some Anime for the Reel Asia Film Festival

A few good ones coming up clicky

Posted by -=M=- on Nov-20-2007 02:25:

after playing the naruto game on xbox 360 i've decided that i need to watch the anime series

only problem is that the series is several hundred episodes long lol

Posted by DJ Marak on Nov-20-2007 02:46:

LMAO, havent come across it and yeah if its THAT massive im not goin to bother, Bleach is orite, kool plot and all but yeah damn long too apparently

Posted by -=M=- on Nov-20-2007 04:38:

yeah well seinfeld did 180 episodes... the simpsons have done 407

bleach is up to episode 149 at the moment
i think naruto has probably reached a similar margin

to be honest i like longer animes when they maintain your interest... bleach really holds it up until the bountu filler arc but you can skip that and not miss any of the manga's storyline
