Well yes it's about the money as well, why would they let someone else profit off their flagship track?

And yes, Bedrock is about the love

edit // Perhaps I should have said recognition not love

It sounds a lot like the original mix.

No. Bedrock has had an incredible number of stellar releases in the past and one odd release such as this isn't going to damage its credibility, unless they choose to continue down this path. I think it's way out of line compared to what they're usually doing, sure, but I don't see it being a process that will continue.

I think that's an excellent way of looking at it.

I couldn't disagree more with any of that, but fair play to you I guess.

Imagine a snowball rolling down a mountain...

Bedrocks back catalog doesn't gain them anything in my book other than high expectations, and with this release, I no longer have those.

Its ok i suppose.

Just a bit suprised Bedrock would release it, as it isnt really there 'Sound'.

Nothing will ever out better the Original, such a powerful monster. It will be forever rooted in my top 5 of all time.

a little OT, but what is the name of the movie where there is a rave and digweed comes to it and drops Heaven Scent?

One release you don't agree with is going to taint your image of them forever? You're like a woman

Way to completely misinterpret the post.

It's called the snowball effect for a reason; and I don't particularly care to see a label like Bedrock get the ball rolling - This is the EXACT same gripe people (some of whom are posting in this very thread) have had about the shit-floodgates opening and having to wade through hours of garbage samples to find just one good tune.

It seriously blows my mind that you're trying to rationalize this release the way you are - it certainly isn't the end of the world, but it is also quite ridiculous that a label would even have to preface a release with "Well, we really don't like this, but whatever... Released."

Posted by Greymauzer on Jul-19-2007 18:57:

I like this tune alot, it's basically Heaven Scent with a little more 'updated' feel to it.

I saw Ferry about a month ago and he dropped this midway through his set. I didn't even know it was Heaven Scent until the melody kicked in. Nearly tore the roof off when it did!

It's easy to dismiss a track as 'banal' when you're sitting there listening to MP3s, but many shouldn't be judged that way. Some work alot better in the field.

I guess I just don't see Bedrock releasing the track as a negative thing

Agree to disagree.

Fair enough - just don't you let me catch you complaining about all the shit that's released these days

Who gave him the parts to remix it in the first place?

you dont really need parts to remix a song. he either cut some out of the original and made it or remade the parts from the original. a good sound designer should have no problem doing that. most likely though he just cut stuff from the original and added his own stuff to it.

Apparantly he didnt even use any parts from the original. It's more like a bootleg cover.

Eh, Bedrock shouldn't release it imo.

yea possibly, i've only heard it live, at edc and i was like halfway back so i couldnt hear it that well, and then armin played it last weekend but i was all the way back at teh stoli room and could barely hear i that time, the break sounds like the original one though, from waht i remember. if they release it though, i think they should give greg downey the original parts so he can fix it up and redo it properly. they can do whatever they want though.

Posted by Hanki on Jul-22-2007 17:06:

Must say that I was very sceptic about this remix, but when I heard it on 'Transitions' I felt like impressed. Downey didn't ruin the track as I had thought but added some nice bassline, which has made the track more energetic. Overall it's a goodie.

i will buy a tiesto album before i ever purchase bedrock again
