I don't think i've ever posted a negative post here on TA but he comes the first one... ARE YOU PEOPLE FUCKING NUTS?? That was the worst dj set i've ever seen. He was horrible. The pyros were necessary to distract you from Tiesto's lack of DJ skill. And seriously, how big of and ego to you have to have in order to make every1 wait for a half hour in the dark be4 you come out and play. If the opening acts for Armin finished a half hour early, he's be out there spinning as soon as they were done. But i guess Tiesto is too good to start early. Easily the WORST night of the year. Never seeing that overpriced idiot again.

P.S. 57 - ID = Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek

Great track list. I wish I was there for First State's Evergreen!

Looks like I'm going to give Tiesto another shot.

Partyhopper! I was there too, but didn't see you. Had to leave early b/c my girlfriend couldn't stand the freaking crowd. Great show, but some of the people there were really annoying. Hope you had fun.

Yes we were. And dont take this as an attack at you or any1 else, but i go to a show to see the DJ not the pyrotechnics and videos. The show was 8/10 the DJ was more like a 3/10

LOL, see when I make this statement, ppl bash on me. Good u finally see for what it is. But I gotta say, the stage, video screen and pyrotechnics werent bad. It looked like something u would see at an oversees european festival. Sometimes too many lasers can just be fuckin annoying and having a nice light show can be just as good if not better. Of course Tiesto still sux so either way it would be wack anyways.

Haha, Im glad someone was able to see through all the smoke and mirrors.

Im sure if there were no pyrotechnics, the reviews would be quite different.

BTW, to further conclude my point about trance being complete shit... when a DJs tracklist consists 3/4 of his own tracks, most of which are overplayed, overhyped and not that good to begin with - to say the set was great means you were successfully manipulated by the millions of dollars they put into the show.

Yea but the crowd and vibe is what makes it good there. Good luck with that here.

But honestly, I do gotta give it up for the ppl who organized the video/lighting for this Tiesto event. IMO, its better than any MADE show I have ever been to. Sure lasers are ok, but if ure constantly being blinded by that shit every min it gets kind of annoying. LOL. For some reason, simple flashing lights with diff. colors and speeds as well as good timing with audio seems to make for a better display.

Tiesto @ Hammerstein

vs

Armin Van Buuren @ Mccarren Pool

horrible conclusion... it was called Tiesto in concert/ Elements of Life Tour. He was promoting his music what do you expect, it wasn't a club gig.

I didn't take it offensively, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I just don't agree with you . The pyrotechnics and video stuff were good but I am not tricked by bright shiny things . I honestly enjoyed his set, I wasn't unhappy when he didn't come out right after Jes because I knew he wasn't gonna come out for a while. Also, I'm no DJ so i can't claim to pay attention to tiny things in his mixing style that may annoy people that do DJ...overall I think he deserved much higher than a 3, the tracklist alone deserves much higher than that. But again that is my opinion which I am also entitled to.

Thus why I wouldnt go, whoever he pays to do his productions now is horrible. Why would I pay whatever ridiculous amount of money it was to go see flashing lights and pyrotechnics?

When other DJs suck, the best of the worst become popular again. Since Tiesto has been overhyped for a few years now, he will always be the best of the worst.

Look at all the hype Armin got before the Pool gig? Everyone was on his jock... he plays a bad set, those same people go see Tiesto spin his usual bad set but with a bunch of flashing lights, now they are Tiesto fans.

Tiesto will ALWAYS be popular because he pays people alot of money to cover peoples ears by satisfying their eyes.

tiesto at hammerstein was amazing. hands down one of my best nights out ever. six-story tall visuals (the modern dance, semi-nude dancer visuals were crazy), pyrotechnics, fireworks (indoors! is that allowed?), confetti falling from the ceiling, a three thousand strong crowd rocking out - young, old, candy ravers, models, internationals, b&t, hipsters, whoever. i'm not too crazy about the elements album itself so i'm glad he mixed in those tracks with his old standards and some of my favorite house tracks (alright, swimming places, touch me). yes, he messed up a few times but whatevs... he's human, it happens to the best, and his enthusiasm and interaction with the audience made up for it.

tiesto went on the mic at the end of the night, thanked the crowd and said it was one of his favorite nights in NY in all the years he's played here. i was surprised he actually went down into the audience twice to shake hands. the man is a born performer and he knows how to work a crowd. i love my share of dirty, small club nights where it's all about the music and the DJ's technical skills, but a night like this one really blew those others out of the water and if i could, i would do it all over again.
