Originally posted by Inertia we have math, language (verbal + literature), geography, sciences (chem, physics, biology) and history. its not REALLY an SAT, i'm just kind of comparing that. unis don't even see your score for it. all you have to do is pass. you take these once in the 8th grade, and once after you graduate HS. no chem or physics in the 8th grade though. its a fucking joke tho. no one ever fails, unless they almost got everything wrong. schools look really bad if they have a high fail rate, so schools pay off the state most of the time. even still, the test just covers an uber-broad range of things, very generally. as long as you attended a few weeks of class in the year, you should get by on your own steam perfectly.
You don't really skip a year. You just get the credits from the tests you passed. I think you'd have to pass 10 of the AP exams to equal a whole year of college. Roughly 30 hours worth. I think they only offered 4 or 5 at my high school. Can't really remember because they kicked me out before I could take the exams and then the next year I wrote a letter to the college board telling them their AP shit is a rip off.
I love standardized tests. Here in Texas you need to pass a test called the TAKS or some bullshit like that you need to pass to graduate, but I never took it because I went to private school. I've heard it is extremely easy.

Fuck my $8000 tuition bill for one freaking year in school. I've read that in some countries, you can go to university for free. I just hope students have to pass an entrance exam, or each class would be filled with idiots.
disclaimer: didnt read thread
they accept freshmen because they get paid by the state to which is why the over enroll. A counselor for a nice uni told me very politely that if I went to harvard and got a 4.0 for 2 years they wouldnt accept me into school because they wont get paid for it.

A few years later, I readmitted myself into school at a different school to continue my education and finished a degree. Now, I was trying to get back into the original uni to further my education/get another degree, and I was DENIED readmittance! Even though I FINISHED a degree somewhere else, and managed to keep a VERY high GPA at the new school, the old one doesn't give a flying f*#$ to say the least. F@#^ this crap! Why is it so damn hard to get an education in this f*ing country?!?!?! If I worked my ass off to raise my gpa and finish a degree, proving that I've gotten my life back on track, why the hell can't I make my life even better by getting a higher degree?! |

The only requirement for taking a masters after having a regular degree, is to have a good average grade.
on the flip side...
the state of Florida Uni system by way of the GI Bill via the Army is giving me a full ride for my MBA...
w00t!!
Sara I'm sorry it's not working out for you...
Shit the least they can do is pay for your Masters. I would never take anything from the military. Recruiters always call me to talk, but I hang up on them.
reapply or look into other schools
just because you got rejected from where you started college doesn't mean it's the end of the world
maybe, the school knew that you are more than qualified to come back in and finish your bachelor's degree but just didn't have the room to put you in. more and more students are attending college each year, so they don't have the resources to take on one extra student that will not be coming in.
either that, or you faced stiff competition for other candidates who applied for readmittance and/or transfer students.
just my theory

talkinga bout hating school
so we had to turn in some bullshit extra credit into our professor, so he just says "write blah blah blah" like bullet points and what not of 2 case studies.
so i do, and when we are turning it in he goes "what is this? written by hand? there are plently of computeres around the world and u couldnt use one?
so inside my head im like "shut up you poor son of a bitch" because somehow i feel he is poor, and his shitty attidude and search for aproval from students only means he is either:
a) a loser or
b) frustraded wanker who couldn't do anything better than teach at university (not saying all professors are frustraded because i have some who are fucking smart and i admire alot)
so he was like "turn it in tomorrow" so i send him a couple of emails that went like this
First email
quote:
hello, i asked you at the end of class if i could email you what i had written by hand (the assignments) and you said no, to turn it in tomorrow. tomorrow i do not have to go to school, and i do live 45 minutes away. i am about to type it at the moment. is it possible for me to turn it in on Wed. (the day of the exam) that way i do not have to drive almost 2 hours to turn it in. if not that is ok, just let me know what time you will be at your office tomorrow and i shall turn it in then. thanks
quote:
ok! See you then. Dr. V.

quote:
i am sorry, can you be more specific? see you then tomorrow or see you then on wed?
quote:
if you come on Campus tomorrow slide your paper under my office door. thanks
is that clear to anyone? did he even answer my question?
what a ****.
