this has to be one of the nuttiest ncf seasons in recent memory

This has been an amazing season... and Rivalry Week has just started!! So many great games today with so many implications... then we got Championship Week next week!!

Ohio state had a cupcake schedule this year. I don't think they should even be mentioned for the National Title game.

This is always the only excuse anyone has to disqualify OSU from the title game.

btw it looks right now, the new 1-2-3 will be west virginia-missouri-ohio state, yet i wouldn't be surprised if some voters put ohio state over missouri, even though missouri convincingly beat the #2 team kansas. after 3, it's real intersting how the rest of the top 10 will fare, with arizona state getting pummeled by usc, lsu and kansas losing tough games, georgia beating georgia tech, and virginia tech beating a solid virginia team. i think there are going to be a lot of complaints with the rankings tomorrow.

a real interesting scenario came up during the kansas-missouri game. so if missouri wins, and plays oklahoma, then what if missouri loses to oklahoma, being that missouri will have the #2 curse, and west virginia gets upset by pittsburgh. then what happens? surely ohio state gets bumped to first, but who gets to play #2?

wasn't west virginia ranked #3 earlier in the year? i thought a lot of people liked them because they had white and slaton returning. i liked them heading into the season but for some reason they didn't look sharp early on. the whooping they handed uconn in the second half today was just ridiculous.

As much as I think OSU is the most overrated program this decade, they do schedule at least one opponent from a major conference when they schedule in advance. It's just OSU's luck that Washington wasn't that good this year.

They have USC coming up the next two years

you baited me so im biting..

how about that they lost to a far lesser team at home to a team that was predicted to finish near the bottom of the big 10... and that OSU (not to be confused with better teams like oklahoma state or oregon state that better represent the OSU name) was never in that game at all... (must hurt knowing it was to a team that picked up a coach that wasnt even good enough for the Gators)

should i even bring up the Akron game which yes you won by 20+ but it took you over a half to make your buckeye faithful breath easily..

i can go on if you like... i wont even touch the schedule aspect..

(for your sake you should have never dissed my gators...)

unfortunately there is still a real shot the team from columbus can make it to the title game... the only thing that has come out of ohio state is kirk herbstriet (he is by far the most intelligent and situationally aware announcer and commentator the game of football at any level has seen)

edit: until FSU has any sort of game again... bashing Ohio State is my true passion... i'd almost rather OSU lose the NC painfully each year than UF beat FSU these days... its that bad..

meaning OSU would win the UM game and be all happy and then get their nuts shit on...

i'd almost want to go there as a student b/c its a fine educational school and just wear Gator garb every day...

OSU is right there with LSU in my books... they are dead even with hate... well FSU will always be #1 but they are like little kids trying to find their way so its mean now...

Missouri is going to lose to OU and WVU will win.

And Vern I dont disagree with the fact that they always have a shitty schedule. Id hazard a guess that most OSU fans would appreciate a tougher schedule than what they have right now. Its just a shame the Big Ten has been such a Big Flop recently.

If WVA gets upset by Pitt AND Oklahoma beats Mizzou, then all hell will break lose as arguments come in for the next best 2-loss team in the country. Georgia? They didn't even play in the SEC Championship. LSU? They lost twice to unranked teams. Virginia Tech? Still has to play against BC in the ACC Championship, however you can't look past that ugly loss to LSU in September. And USC? They lost to Stanford!

I don't know. I really doubt WVA is going to lose ( I mean it can happen) but it's the prospect of what's going to happen in the Big 12 championship game. I know a lot of people are going to be upset and this will be more fuel for the fire that the BCS system needs to go.

Well the argument is either Team A has a lousy schedule and shouldn't be ranked as high as they are....

or Team B has a tougher schedule with more competition and tougher losses and they should be ranked higher..

I don't know. You get that say well if they're undefeated they should play for the National Championship and you have people that say, well a 1-loss SEC team is more deserving because they have a tougher schedule.

You have 6 on one half, half a dozen on the other. But the thing with Ohio State is, none of their wins were convincing enough for me to say "Oh yeah, they totally deserve to be in the National Championship"!.

I'd rather see a 2 loss LSU team vie for the NC because they fought tooth and nail down to the wire in both of their 3OT loss.

Fair. But of course Im going to have to disagree with you and say they totally deserve another NC title.

I give OSU credit for at least trying. It's better than the what Barry Alvarez and Bill Snyder used to do years ago (hello 1-AA creampuffs!)

It would be an absolute crime if Tim Tebow doesn't win the Heisman this year

Posted by justin on Nov-29-2007 11:55:

LSU vs Arkansas Razorbacks... what a freakin game. I just haappened to tune in during the first OT and I'm glad I did. Bad ass game you missed it!

Posted by justin on Nov-29-2007 11:56:

Sooners fan BTW

Posted by Thierry on Nov-29-2007 13:12:

Tebow has gotta win the Heisman!!! I am biased of course but you can't ignore what he's done against who he's done it against. Colt Brennan had a great year, but there's a reason why he didn't win last year, nor Timmy Chang a few years back.

On a different note, it's Championship weekend!!! Any predictions?

ACC Championship - Jacksonville: (#6) Boston College v (#11) Virginia Tech
In the rematch, I have to go with Virginia Tech and their lacklustre offence. I had BC as the most overrated team at the beginning of the season and was very happy to see them lose finally and expose them for what they were. VTech and their crazy special teams are off to the Orange Bowl!

Big 12 Championship - San Antonio: (#1) Missouri v (#9) Oklahoma
In another rematch, I will take the former loser again and take Chase Daniel and the Mizzou Tigers. They really impressed me in the Border War last weekend and I think they will step their game up to clip the Sooners with a field goal at the end.

SEC Championship - Atlanta: (#7) LSU v (#14) Tennessee
I hate Tenn with a passion and there was no way they deserved to be in this game, but that's how the NCAA works and I respect it. LSU should trounce the loser Vols. I hope someone breaks Ainge's leg and knock out Arian Foster.

I really hope that the BCS Championship game is West Virginia V Missouri (never thought I would be saying that), but I don't want Ohio State sneaking back in by not having a Championship game nor playing since November 17th. I know ppl will say if Mizzou loses, then they have 2 losses therefore OSU should play WVU since they both have 1 losses but who's to say that if OSU plays Illinois again, they wouldn't lose like Mizzou if they lost the Sooners. Only consolation would be hopefully another step towards a PLAYOFF!

Terry

rolf at west virginia.
now missouri looks like they're going down.

yay for college football!

Posted by Protege on Dec-02-2007 04:18:

Can someone explain to me how LSU can lose twice, both to basically bad teams (except McFadden), and are still most likely play for the championship? Seriouly, BCS needs to go.

Posted by verndogs on Dec-02-2007 08:08:

BCS = bunch of crooked shit

Posted by jonze on Dec-02-2007 08:46:

wow, just wow. so it turns out not playing for two weeks was the best strategy to get into the title game.

i like how cbs sportsline has Illinois vs USC in the Rose Bowl. we are going to get pounded if that's true.

Posted by Thierry on Dec-02-2007 13:53:

I can't believe what has happened this season, and yesterday is the perfect way to end this season, with 1 and 2 falling an hr apart. I have NO idea how any of the Bowl games will look now, it all depends on how the terrible BCS will rank everyone at the end of the night. I really hope this ends the BCS, but of course they will come up with some excuse on whomever they choose belongs there, blah blah blah. The only certain BCS game is West Virginia v Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl... whoopdidoo! I hope the Rose Bowl gets smart and chooses Georgia as their replacement pick for Ohio State since it seems more than likely they'll be in the NCG. Then the SEC can show their dominance and destroy USC. Let the craziness get settled a few hours from now!!

Yeah, I think USC is legit - in fact, probably more deserving of a national championship shot than LSU. Illinois/Florida is a game I would pay to see though. Give Ron Zook a shot to say "fuck you" to all those Gators fans.

What's lost in all of this is Georgia though - Georgia was #4 in the last BCS poll... how can it be reasonable for LSU to jump from #7 to #2 when the #4 team didn't lose? Oklahoma should have a claim too. I'm sorry, but even though LSU did not lose this weekend, they did NOT look impressive.

but they still won the SEC

therefore LSU > Georgia

honestly, if I had to choose a team to play Ohio State at gunpoint, I'd choose Virginia Tech. LSU and Oklahoma lost to an unranked team. VT didn't.

wait scratch that, I'd choose Hawaii
