hybrid's classier mixes got more play as far as i know

the original 93 love mix is more popular than the 98 loveclub mix. however i would i argue tho of the 98 mixes that the oliver lieb mixes got more attention due to addition onto NE

Horizons, yes. Eternal maybe... I wasn't sure of that one.

the original of horizons got equal, and i actually think more play than the wow remix.

ok yeah, tiesto's remix got more play, but it wasn't like the original was forgotten. southern sun was still a pretty high profiled track in 2002

i was sarcastic, the original of traffic was so overplayed that it wasn't funny

Are you saying you don't know if the Vince O'Matic remix was played more than the original?

i'm saying, if it wasn't for that perticular version being once played in that oakey em and if it wasn't id'd. it would have fucked off into oblivion like 10000 other tunes.

Absolutely yes. The original doesn't get nearly any play. I'll ask you to prove (via tracklistings I guess?) that other remixes got as much play.

ok, then going by that logic, you should have put the G&D remix, since that one was the most cained. it is still being cained by several trance jocks today, just because it's the original sped up a teeny bit and it's 4/4.

I'd argue that to not be true.

oh bollocks, even tiesto used to play the original mix of voyage more than his version.

no, but i guess the vom remix still wins that arguement on a technicality

besides. I've heard sets from Oakie where he plays the original of Southern Sun

so? he also played the tiesto and g&d remixes (and much more often than the original... especially once the tiesto and g&d remixes gained recongnition and especially once the song was a few years old... he likes the g&d remix to play out now-a-days a lot more than the original)... how many other djs played the original i think is the bigger point.

no way... in my experience it's been the montana edit that was more overplayed... i'm not even talking about tiesto.

The original is not a dance track IMO.

It was only played once I believe, on GDJB, someone used to have a rip of it. I used to have the "demo" version of it burnt to cd, probably still have it somewhere.

Arrow

Nice thread.

What is the original version of Underworld - Born Slippy (i assume the one i called original is some NUXX version as someone pointed out).

I dont understand your logic.
we are talking about tracks where the original faded or is more or less forgotten by the majority. to be so the track must be quite well recogniced and played out. right?
I dont see how two fishes is such a track.

Posted by montana on Aug-16-2007 20:40:

the original of born slippy is a 140bpm breaks number. can be found on the pearls girl cd single

yeah you're correct... i read the original post earlier this morning, then did my reply this afternoon thinking the topic was remixes more popular than the originals... so two fishes doesn't really fit the bill.

Yes! The G&D remix is absolutely a choon. I don't think many have even heard of the original. I didn't until I bought the single on iTunes.

The Original is my favourite version by far,it has the most emotion - it was on the end of a Renaissance CD mixed by Dave Seaman, its just breaks,no 4/4 beat - i suppose the other remixes fit far better on mix cd's etc.

Heh, I've got it on vinyl (even though the original is only an edit on it) - it cost me 45 cents

Just remembered Robert Miles - Children. Everyone remembers the dream mix with the piano and flighty pads, but the Original seems harder to come by.

I also feel like there are two Jam & Spoon mixes of Stella, but I don't know which is the original and which is more popular.

Depeche Mode

Posted by RebeL9 on Aug-17-2007 09:13:

there is also a second remix of Age of Love by Jam & Spoon called Sign of Time remix. This one is totally overshadowed by the mighty Watch Out for Stella remix.
It's still a good remix though.

Not exactly trance related but I just came to think about Everything But The Girl - Missing (Todd Terry Remix).

Huuuge hit that practically shot their career into stratosphere even though they weren't really doing any dance music at the time.

Lost Tribe - Gamemaster

Signum Remix was cained most.

Posted by montana on Aug-17-2007 15:51:

Sash - Encore Une Fois. the version most people know as the "original mix" is infact the Future Breeze remix

Posted by Magnus on Aug-17-2007 17:17:

Marcos - Sunfire (Original Mix)

Bought the record for the Jay Walker remix. One day I accidentially played the wrong side and was blown away by the original mix. Amazing tune still to this day for me...
