I think any other country in the world, u NEED to know how to drive a standard manual car, and then u can choose whether u want to drive a stick or an auto car.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Indeed, I've never even driven automatic.

I appreciate the effort. You know what though, Nik? You're just quoting me because you're jealous. You can't post anything better. You hater.

You're living proof of why alcohol and internet don't mix.

Posted by UWM on Aug-19-2007 12:23:

And you're living proof of being completely oblivious to a 'CD Reviews / New Discussion' joke.

But no, I really care that you think I'm an internet failure. What will I do?!

No, no I'm not.

Go to bed?

Seriously, I'm trying to save you from yourself.

Posted by UWM on Aug-19-2007 12:26:

Yes, I need 'saving from myself'. I appreciate the life coaching.

But in the spirit of keeping things on the up-and-up I will cease posting. Don't want to upset the salty old bastards, ya know?

greatest advantage to owning a stick shift car in the US?

No one will dare ask you to borrow your car

That's a nissan silvia isn't it?
I've got one of those little grey market, imported jap things at the moment I've been borrowing since 'dearest' managed to mangle my car beyond hope. They're horrible, too noisy, spine breaking suspension, cops like chasing them. All it's good for is going stupidly fast, using lots of petrol, going around corners at opposite lock, destroying tyres and maybe amusing for people 10 years younger than me, but basically I find it extremely irritating to live with.

Barely anyone drives them in Australia any more either, I will buy another manual transmission again though, mostly for that reason

How would she get it into a random empty parking lot by herself if she doesn't know how to drive a stick yet?

Psh.

We were in a parking lot (that actually still had a lot of cars in it) and I didnt stall, and I was able to get it all the way into 3rd (it was kind of a short range of space that I could drive in).

It was fun. I was really nervous, but only because this guy has told me before that he doesnt let other people drive his car. So I really didnt want to fuck it up.

The only problem I had was that it was really hard to tell where the friction point on the clutch was. Its definitely an "easy" car to drive, but the clutch was so smooth that Id never know if I had engaged the collar enough to step on the gas.

Otherwise, cakewalk.
