You could even simplify that further.

It's a REVIEW THREAD. What the hell does one expect? Ugh. Some people around here are just silly.

Posted by watson27 on Aug-20-2007 17:16:

Yeah I get that it's a review thread. I am just saying the SHIT you are all reviewing is retarded. Some of you act like you are professional DJ critics. The music is either good or bad. That's it. Read below to see what I mean. I wasnt confused. Were you?

"I must say i thought saturday sucked (i didnt go friday). I havent been out to see a trance DJ since Armin was at spirit ( about 2 years ago). I hated the long-cheesy ass build ups and people praising/sucking PVDs dick when the beat dropped. Some of it was off key like somone said and cofused the shit out of people. Im always on the dance floor at parties but i was on the bleachers 3/4 of the night and could not get into the music"

If you understand this, why are you still replying?

Your point is invalid. You're welcome.

Gee there are a lot of DJ's and Producers on this thread; so... damn... who do they think they are! lol

It's just rediculous that people would learn more about dance music and music in general beyond "this rocks" and "this sucks". Shame on us all!

Long ago, though, were those days; days when he was playing tracks from 45RPM, Seven Ways, Out There and brilliant remixes. Unfortunately over the span of 7-8 yrs I have seen his creativity and innovative ability go southward. Nothing but drab vocal, shitty, cheesy productions especially the last couple of years. Furthermore, I find it laughable for PvD to comment on the commercialness of other dj's (e.g Tiesto who, agreed, is also a cheesemeister) when he has turned his gigs to a freakin pop concert. I can't even imagine Sasha, Digweed, Danny Howells and other class dj's doing that or producing such crap.
I can't believe this is the same man who used to bring the house down for 6+ hours into the early morning every other month at TWILO.

My review

As a veteran of this concert since it began, I have to say it was overall very good. It's been awhile since I've followed the scene and was looking for this concert to introduce me to some new tracks. It def. did. The track selection was good, though I like mostly trance and didn't like the techno as much. The last 1.5 hours was excellent. The sound system was great, and not too loud. I didn't have a problem with the bathrooms like eveyone else - strange.
I LOVE For an Angel live. It sounds so good live. Born Slippy was good, Mindcircus too. Another Way was pleasantly surprising.

I also was annoyed with Paul dropping climaxes a few beats too late.

Sorry it was so awful for you =(. We kind of gave up on PVD's Summerstage gigs. See you at Sasha and/or Digweed hopefully?

Isn't that generally his style though? He keeps you guessing when the bass is going to drop.

Thought the night was alright. I think I got a bit too hyped up from fridays reviews. Track selection was good , loved hearing out there and back !! Maybe it was me but I didnt feel he played as hard as Crobar closing.

September event iffy. First time I'd consider missing since Twilo days.

I dont know if Paul met these terms. What do you think? :PVD features an overwhelming feeling of percussive, like the synthetic sounds, studio effects used as principal instrumentation, and, usually, a regular, 4/4 beat usually with a tempo of 130140, sometimes faster, but rarely slower. Some PVD compositions have strong melodies and bass lines, but these features are not as essential to PVD as they are to other dance genres, and it is not uncommon for PVD compositions to deemphasize or omit them. PVD is also very DJ-friendly, being mainly instrumental, and produced with the intention of being incorporated into continuous DJ sets wherein different compositions are played with very long, synchronized segues. Although several other dance music genres can be described in such terms, techno has a distinct sound that aficionados can pick out very easily.

What do you critics think?

I think that what ColorDancer said went over your head (or you simply fully misunderstood).

Or maybe you just felt like making random commentary on PvD.

Evil1 ANYONE CATCH BEEF FOR THEIR CAMERA?

Okay I seemed to have forgotten this part until I saw the pics above , which btw are awesome.

I dont know who the security staff was on hand but for some reason my buddy caught beef for his CAMERA (Canon Digital Rebel). the exchange went something like:

The security person pulls him aside and told him he could not use his camera.

He asks why and is told that his camera is a "Pro Camera " and they are not allowing that. To which he replies , Anyone can go into Best Buy and pick one up then agrees to not use the camera anymore .

The security guy then demands his SD card .

My buddy refuses and says they let him in with it and should'nt pose a problem since he put it away.

The security guy then asks why my buddy is stepping to him. (the whole time his feet have not moved, nor mine as I was waiting in beer line)

The security guys tells him to put it away and walks off.

Whats with the security guys jacking up the guy who paid $60 to get in and went through a security check already?
Anyone Else catch beef for their camera?

same here kid! I caught beef from the security guy at the line before going in cuz i brought a DV and he told me no filming and i told him listen i don't have the tape im just taking pictures with it. He then told me to go check it in with some other guy which i didnt know where he was pointing me to. so i was like ok ok and just went inside and safed me the trouble.

Insted you sit there on the bleachers and try to find anything that goes wrong with the show to write about on here. "Oh I thought the sound level was off, I think the colors were too bright, I hate the vocals, time of our lives sucks, he should of playes more groovy beats" Shut up already! Don't go anymore if you dont like it. It seems like these DJ's have to pass a test with all of you when they put on a show.

+ 1

shut up and enjoy bitches

I was able to get in with the rebel without any problems. Before getting in, i took the lens off so the cam looked small and twas in the bag..... I was prepared to be turned around also.

to all the crazy kids who are saying they didn't enjoy this b/c he was playing too much "techno."

Paul, didn't drop any techno on saturday. he might have played tracks that had more of a techy feel to it. but he still didn't drop any techno songs. and even if he did, quite your bitching. paul is a trance producer, not a trance dj. he plays anything/everything. and rocks it each and every single time.

this was an awesome night and i can't wait to see him again!
