BS is good, very good! Acting, visuals, the theme are excellent but what I don't get is the way ppl dress. It's FFS exactly like the Earth fashion despite we were suppoused to be an offshot colony that left the federation 10000+ yrs ago. Just annoyin

the most pointless complaint ive ever read about any series, ever.

LOL, if u're an avid fun of sci-fi genre such details are annoying and what the "frak" about corner cut paper documents getting handed around? Is that the only distinguisable cultural/aestetical difference we achieved in 10,000 yrs isolation that we use instead perfetly rectangular books and document papers? Rest seems fraken identical. Even the Earth managed to create identical Cylons and be destroyed by them, fool!

Battlestar is awesome. Lookin forward to seeing what happens in the last 5 episodes. I also hear they are working on a new series which takes place when the cylons were created and is about their uprising and taking over of mankind. Should be pretty interesting!

silly "futuristic" outfits are the realm of gimmicky, lesser scifi. one of the reasons BSG is so compelling and believable is because the guns look like real guns, galactica feels like a real aircraft carrier, and characters arent walking around in shiny moon outfits

luckily for us, they spent their budget on awesome camera work and effects, brilliant writing and excellent performances. i fail to see what fancy moonsuits would add to that dynamic. it was a deliberate choice by the creators to make a more believable and realistic environment.

im part way thru the second series. isn't bad, but to be honest i was expecting a little more from a series so widely acclaimed. hasn't really covered any contentious issues yet :/

Posted by Fpcookie on Feb-16-2009 11:07:

what would you call a contentious issue? I wouldn't have thought that was its main claim to fame. anyway id say what happens in season 3 would be pretty contentious
and a lot of the deeper social issues are explored further on in the series.

most people i know found the 2nd season a bit lacking but it is important for the plot in later seasons. actually, in my second time watching it the second season was my favourite.

I would have to agree there.

Just because theres nothing for a total nerd to feel snobbish about.

I mean in 10 years time futuristic stuff looks old.

yeah, obviously im only early on in the series and still really enjoying it, its just not quite as good (yet) as the reviews had me believe. im still positive about the future seasons though. and yeah, i too think season 2 is a bit lacking (so far). still miles better than most stuff you see on tv though.
