also i can't afford more than a hundred tracks per month so it's not such a hassle.

that's how i do it as well.

At work I would go to a website with a little flash piano and just play along with my computer keyboard while listening to my new tracks. this made my offtask timewasting somewhat productive and freed up time for me to waste time at home

i'd be forever grateful if you could post the link for that. i use my keyboard at home to key stuff out but i'd like to be able to do it during downtime at work, since that's when i tend to burn CDs and print up tracklists as well.

I'm almost always a combination of ultra prepared and completely winging it - for almost every gig I play I have at least one or two discs worth of tunes I found that day, or the day before that I haven't really had the time to give a proper listen to - sometimes it works, and sometimes I get fucked by it, but it's just the way I do things.

And I don't buy a couple hundred tracks each and every month, but there have been more than a few months where I look at my bank statement and consider committing myself for the amount of money I spend on music.

From the beginning of May to about the middle of June I think I had a problem...

thanks! function is more important than aesthetics in this case.

This has piqued my interest. I'm going to start paying more attention to what key my favorite songs are in. Maybe I'll find a pattern.
