It was so packed inside guv last time, that the line didn't move for the entire hour we stood in it. The line outside was 6 people wide, and around the corner almost, not moving. I remember that Lisa called us from inside and said it was so fackin rammed, so much so that she couldn't take it anymore, came outside, and we all booked it and left.

Yup, that was 2005. UGH.

Me and Lisa left and met yall outside then high-tailed it over to Joshys!!

(so much better!) Thank god... you and Cale (and I forget the other person) saved us

im out

guv is RAMMED on halloween without any guest djs ... i can only imagine how crazy it would be with sasha who hasnt played here in 2+ years!

im hoping for a kool haus party ... if not i hope its not as bad that night as I think it will be for the people that do go!

same sort of disaster that lawler at halloween was!

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Sep-11-2007 15:23:

boo!

all this chatter really is starting to daunt me from going up there and be it that sasha's nyc gig got moved to a horrific venue, this looks like the only viable option.

i really hope you are all making this out to be worse then it really is, then again there are truths to locals experience but coming from NYC, jammed packed clubs are the norm....I really don't mind going early drinking early and finding a nestled corner to chill at. I'm not a front and center person, I like the fringes...

So is it bad enough for me to cancel my trip, I hope not it'll tarnish my birthday expectations! =P

if you don't mind not being front and centre then it won't be that bad....yes its packed but you can always find some corner to chill in and dance.

I don't know about that. When Lawler was at the Guv for Halloween, I spent the whole night being pushed around the Guv, trying to find somewhere to even stand. I didn't feel comfortable until 6am. This was with Lawler who comes here a lot. Sasha hasn't been here in 2 years, and in my opinion he has more draw than Lawler.

To the New Yorker: Should you cancel your trip for this event? I wouldn't say so. It will be a good party, but you have to have a thick skin for crowds, because there aren't many other events that I can think of that would be more packed than this. For example, last Halloween was PACKED with just a Toronto resident playing.

However, if you are clausterphobic or don't like being shoulder to shoulder and being pushed in shoved all night, than I suggest you stay at home.

^Yeah. Tough decision.

Sasha's last EM absolutely kick ass and I've wanted to see Sasha live for a while...

But I hate the sardine factor. Why can't this be at KH which has more room?

Gotta think of a costume if I do come to this too...

Posted by Rook on Sep-22-2007 04:24:

i think going to see sasha in montreal on the 4th will be a better idea, parce-que..

its the begining of his tour as opposed to his last date..
its a thursday, soo it wont be tooo packed..
montreal women are smokingg.. so ive heard..
its my birthday on the 3rd..
its not the guv..
sasha loves MTL..
no clowns running around, literally..
i can catch Carl Cox and Prydz that same weekend..

MTL > TOR..

this is a no brainer..

I'd think us New Yorkers have plenty of thick skin heh, afterall it is New York. Not saying t.dot is any push over, I've been up there before but never for a 'holiday' wknd let alone stacked with a sasha party. I presume it'll be slammed to the teeth but that's how it is here in NYC almost every weekend when the right dj strikes the right cord here.

Shoulder to shoulder is nothing, that's a norm for the nightlife, it's when you start moving in direction you don't intend is when it becomes unbearable.

It sounds like I'm still in, still haven't booked and the prices have dropped significantly since I last checked (i guess all the more reason to go).

Here's another Q, what's will call like on a night like this? I presume like any other night club, lines will be fairly long so arrival time in relation to when he hits the decks? For NYC, I'd normally arrive at around 11-1130 to find myself on a 20min wait line before getting in...does that seem reasonable to assume up in t.dot? I've been up for LOL and waited nearly 45mins-1hr to get in when they all of a sudden opened up another entrance and we rushed right in.

Is there going to be tickets at the door or guestlist for this?

Of course

Posted by sufee_b on Oct-01-2007 12:54:

For some reason this guy never brings his A game to Toronto...at least not the last 3-4 times. I don't think he really cares while playing here lol.

Posted by VON76 on Oct-01-2007 21:32:

Really i don't think that, he's played some really bangin sets in the past @ Guv. Specially Labour of Love 2005 (when he showcased James Zabiela) He enjoys playing here, as shown on his site 2 of 10 of his LIVE SETS are in Toronto.

And he selected Toronto again during the early days of showcasing a young upcomer in the scene back in early 2005 when then came and did the Vs. Set on the stage together in the main room (that dj/producer is now very well known, now his name of course is James Zabiela).

I'm thinking the reasons why he hasnt been here in the past 2 years are more for shceduling reason then anything else. But who knows i could be wrong.

Halloween 2 years ago for Lawler (the reference point of most in this thread).. no one got in after 11.

I would suggest being there between 10-10:30. Better to be safe than sorry..
