i know you love to hate the big M girl but sadly they are an icon in the music business. must be a bitter pill for you to swallow, but that just makes it all the sweeter for me

Your thrash metal owes a lot to hardcore punk coming from the west coast of the US, regardless of how much they want to admit it.

pkc is right; Metallica is a modern musical icon. Their influence is exactly why most music produced today is both interesting and innovative and their dedication to the music industry and to their fans despite the temptation of lucrative commercialism over the decades is a true testament to the fact that they are some of the most talented songwriters and musicians of our time.

my? haha. look, all my old metal CDs are in a small stack and get brought out for nostalia's sake 1/year and its not thrash metal

kill em all, lightning, puppets, justice, self-titled, load, S&M, garage days revisited- all had something to offer. to be fair though it was finally st anger which made me switch genres permanently!

halcyon likes to felch. who gives a fuck about politics?? i judge music by what is good to hear. as an 80s metal band, they are an obvious standout. you would struggle to find consistently (good) emotional melodies in any other heavy metal band from that era.

first part is def. correct - post-punk led straight into grunge. second part i disagree with; early metallica were influenced primarily by british speed metal bands like motorhead and venom (and to a lesser degree deep purple).
