Well, it offers nearly the functionality of a Xone 92 at a lower price...

4 band eq? Had it on my 92, never really used it much. It's a preference thing.

The restriction to one filter is not THAT big of a deal, limits what you can do to mix with the filters, but it's still nice to have one.

I think the FX feature will soon be found on their next high end mixer. Using an EFX with a xone 92 is a bitch, and regardless of how flexible the idea of studio style sends/returns are, they aren't DJ friendly.

You can get around it on the 92 using a channel and the wet/dry fader, but it ties up a channel.

I think the reason people SHOULD go with an A+H mixer are the sound and build quality. The money you spend goes into building a high quality mixer that will last, not in doodads and gadgets like effect processors and such.

Beside the USB audio interface I don't see what the big deal is with this new mixer. You go for a xone because of the 4 band EQs and filters, while x:42 has the normal 3 band EQ and one filter only. And the x-fx would be good for casual users who don't see the potential of the aux/send.

You call it DJ friendly, I consider it noob friendly. If you think setting up an aux/send is too much hassle for a DJ setup then maybe we just like to use and talk about high end gear on this forum while we don't have enough knowledge to use it. Who cares about the build quality? Any mixer at this price range from a major brand would be solid. And for the record, in terms of functionality x:62 is way more closer to the 92 than this new mixer, you think the other way because 42 looks like 92 but does not work like it.

You are trying to think outside the box, but this is not the way.

This looks like a very nice middle ground between the 32 and the 92. I still think I'm gonna try and get a 92, but this could be a nice alternative. FULL EQ cuts are fantastic to have, and the USB recording seems like a great tool.

A+H seems to take forever to ship things after they announce them.

I asked the club owner and for some odd reason he was lucky since his brother in law works for Allen & Heath in there marketing division so he had to pull a lot of strings just to get it. Deal was he owed him like 10 kegs worth of beer because he did it and not your ordinary beer it has to be trafficked over Canadian border some there high volume alcohol beer lol. I have to agree with you on that Ryan0751 since it took me ages when got my first mixer from them before switched to Korg Zero 8.

Well then no one can really answer your question...

Or just in general for that matter.

Somebody turn off his internets please.

I will more than likely be replacing my 62 with this once it's available.

My only gripe (just from the look of it) is the lack of dual filters, but whatever.

Oh, and the fact that it doesn't look like it will ever support a rotary kit.

You'll get used to those 92 style faders you hate, trust

I dunno if they'll change the amount of resistance on these ones, but on the 92, I love pushing faders up and down slowly using a thumb or finger pressed onto the mixer.

Personally I love the rotary knobs on the 92 that i have and wouldn't ever go back.

Only 2 phono inputs ....

WHAT THE HELL ????!!!!!

Not too many people use more than two turntables. Hell not a lot of people use any turntables.

lately at the club we've only had one set up alongside 2 cdjs, they were only being used as cd holders

we're looking to add more cdjs to the setup instead

Posted by Clovis on Sep-18-2007 01:14:

2 Technics and 2/3/4 CDJs with phono/line switch seems to be the norm at most big clubs...though the turntables rarely get used...unless this guy is playing:

noob question for 42,

Does it mean an external audio card is still needed to record mixes to the laptop or pc since it has a usb audio interface?

no, you hook up the record out to the usb channel in and plug the usb into your pc, select the mixer in your recording software and off you go.

really, really simple. dont even need to install drivers.

if youre feeling adventurous you can hook up the x-fx send a return to the usb in/out and use your pc as an effects unit

On a sadder not, my 42 died a couple of weeks ago, its in the shop now but it sucks. apart from that i fucking love it! i was slightly worried about the lack of 2 filters but tbh it hasnt been a problem at all.

Posted by stan229 on Feb-23-2008 16:23:

how did it die?

that doesn't sound too good for reliability? Completely dead?

Posted by djdk on Feb-23-2008 16:39:

no not completely, the master out died.

i think the master out pre-amp chip blew, there was a pop and then the sound died and the room smelt like burning silicon.

its still under warranty, and tbh if something like this is going to break itll either be in the first 6 months or after 6 years. if it breaks again when i get it back then ill start worrying but im ok with it for now.

i did google the problem when it happened and it doesnt seem like anyone else is sharing the tale of woe so im hoping its just a one off!

Are these even for sale in the US yet?
