Wow.

I LOVE EDM, and "Like" very little, so you're saying you know more about the music than I do?

Please.

How often do you keep up with the releases?

How often do you whore the Live Set sites and Promo Mix sites to snatch up a mix?

How many times have you maxed out your Visa/Mastercard buying vinyls/CDs? Especially when you play neither? (In my case)

How many times have you stayed up till 6am digging and DIGGING for a crazy bootleg mix/unreleased madness track that you've been after for months maybe even years?

Can you even name more than 10 EDM record labels?

Don't tell me I need to like happy hardcore to know what the fuck I'm talking about, cause you have NO idea just how much time/money/sleep I've sacrificed because of how much I love EDM and how passionate I am about this music.

You are not an EDM guru because you were part of starting a radio station, nor do you know more about EDM than I do because of that.

There are so few people on this forum that truly LOVE and DEVOTE themselves to this music.

An honorable mention to the following:

Allied Nations
Dishko
ANF
Maher Daniel
Creator
Jesteraver

And believe it or not, Neo Hacker, who despite liking trance, is very devoted to it and deserves mention.

KrinKer used to really know his shit too, I dunno if he's been as into it lately or not, as he hasn't been around much.

Taha also, although he too is MIA.

There are others that I'm forgetting but whatever, they know who they are.

EDIT: Jesteraver

Who is CONSTANTLY sharing a huge variety of music on here, without being a DJ. He has always had great taste in underground and mainstream stuff.

Also Enjoy has been known to pick out some dope ass shit too, and I know he's spent a fair bit of time/moolah on this shit.

Alex I'm the best producer of the whole damn msgboard and you dont mention me ?

f*ck you !

Trance house techno sucks...... Justin Timberlake rocks!!!!!

jk...

Honestly I find all music to be good at times, its find to go to a club and grind with a girl to some rap/pop... Then hit up the afterhours and break it down to some house/techno....

All these posts to defend Trance music have been rewarded !

haha

Just kidding. Honestly, thanks for the comment Alex. I really appreciate it

what about ol' Robbiej? Pretty much almost everyone who regularly posts in "Choon" thread is a beat junkie in my books. Also Skipper on the female side. Some of you must smell pretty bad

Posted by layloula on Sep-12-2007 03:52:

and excuse me ...it has nothing to do with the radio my friend...come have a talk face to face with me regarding EDM music then we ll see....nxt time think before bashing pple that know there shit! cause you wanna talk music...bring it...as i said no need to prove myself to you

Posted by zeKsg on Sep-12-2007 03:53:

I smell BEEF!!!!

Posted by Spin Laden on Sep-12-2007 03:54:

I have a trance-only club in my basement

Posted by Spunkerspawn on Sep-12-2007 03:54:

Guys take a chill pill and relax, Trance music is going strong and is not just made up of the mainstream names you seem to blurt out constantly (Armin, Ferry, Tiesto...).

Embrace all styles of EDM and just enjoy the music No need to go on a crazy tangent whenever you hear the word 'trance'.

These kinds of useless arguments remind of soccer hooligans trying to butcher each other just because they think their team is the best.

All I have to say to you haters is R O F L.

Posted by layloula on Sep-12-2007 03:56:

no beef luv... it s him who is provoking pple with useless... untrue comment! leave the radio aside...if i wasn't so much into EDM music i woundn't devote money, energy, and time to music. It s a forum to have fun...discuss about music and not to bash pple in a very childish way

Next time Alex come see me face to face...we ll talk music!

Posted by zeKsg on Sep-12-2007 04:02:

It's obviously the internet, and you can say whatever you want and not have to deal with peoples reactions in person, if it wasn't I am sure he would not have said any of those things to you in person...

The only reason I would see him doing it is for fun :P

And as for people that just go around and saying they like house more then trance or the other way around, honestly I do not see the point of monotonely posting on an internet forum that one type of music is better then the other or if one type of music is dying... Honestly even if it is dying, what is the point of constantly repeating it in a forum, every time that people that actually like the genre still try to have a discussion about it... I mean are you really that bored, thats like the only reason I see you would do this...

Anyways even if you know your shit and you have been in the scene for a long time doesn't mean your shit all and you should diss other people that you don't even know...

Posted by Spunkerspawn on Sep-12-2007 04:13:

I doubt what these guys are feeling is love for house music... it's more like a very disturbing form of obsession leading them to go apeshit on anything that isn't HOUSE related hahahah

Posted by Alex on Sep-12-2007 04:16:

I would gladly repeat whatever I said in person to anyone, (in person) that tells me I don't know anything cause I don't like all the kinds of dance music.

I've argued with plenty of people in person about music, not cause I'm an ass and think I know everything, but because I'm ultra-oober passionate about music and don't give a shit.

I'll be at Digweed, and Sasha, you can come argue with me on the dancefloor if you want, tell me how elitest I am and whatever because of how nazi I am about house

Yea, but in that manner...

Posted by Alex on Sep-12-2007 04:32:

Also, don't go all nuts on me because I typed what I typed, if you make passing comments like you did, expect a response that you might not like.

"Bash in a childish way"

What's childish is making passing comments about how "wise" you are musically and then throwing a fit when I defend myself.

Anyways, tempers run wild when music is discussed on here, however childish it gets it's still discussion, so I will stop arguing, I guess I WAS the one that made it personal but whatever, I'm not going to apologize. Face to face you say? Give me a mixer, ableton and 30 minutes of your time and I'll show you how much I know about the music and how much I love it.

Posted by Alex on Sep-12-2007 04:46:

Also, I do know her, I've won tickets off house pacifique many a time in the past.

Also we had met quite a few times while Aria was still open.

Although she probably doesn't quite remember, or doesn't remember that I used to post under "Lopitrance" back in the day and that's probably how I was introduced, LOL.

In fact, I believe it was Taha that introduced us at Timo Maas, like, 3 years ago, maybe 2, cant remember.

Doubt Schulz would lay down heavy tech stuff. Last time I saw him back in July it was a lot of fluff from his new album.

He might also go crazy and lay down the heavy dose of prog laced with tech house like he did back in Apr in Kool Haus. (though probably unlikely)

Posted by Spin Laden on Sep-12-2007 05:20:

his set here in Ottawa was kinda Tiesto fluffy and hard tech as well, kinda a mishmash, imo. One or the other..

See that's the thing u don't understand

We've been there, and we've done that.

Most of us, actually most people who like Edm music starts with trance, it's easily accecible, easy to listen to, filled with emotions and cheesy. Most people start with it then discover other style and so on and so on, we've had that discussion many many many many many times over my years as a Ta i'm not going to try and educated another retard.

The thing is trance is and WILL always be the same thing by it's own definition and it's own rules. Not only that but it tries not to get itself be influenced by other genres of music and if, by any luck, a producer tries to do something influenced by another genre, you, the fans, shoot him down and then that producers stops having any sort of popularity. Happened to Ferry Corsten when he tried to get influenced by some sort of electro a couple of years back. Happened to Oakenfold when he released his first Dj album ( yes i agree break trance was a horrible idea and the album was poorly produced, But still ) i could go on (sasha, digweed, seb fontaine, Bt) all dj's that, once they tried to get something new into trance music got shot down by the suposed "trance lovers".

Trance is the same thing it was last year, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, or at the start of it's creation. It has not moved because it cannot move because the "fans" don't want it to move to another direction. More than that, the "tranceaddict" that say they are opened to other genre of electronic music are the first one to say that they don't want so and so genre to influence trance 'cause it has to stay "pure".

By the way, for those who think i hate trance, i don't, i just think it hasn't evolved and, because of that, i'd rather listen to what created trance in the beginning 'cause at least THAT was original.

And btw, as I've said more than once on this board, give yourself 2-3 years you'll either
a) stop listening to Edm alltogether and get bored of it like most people
b) Start listening to other genre and understand how silly u were before thinking that there is ONLY trance music.
C) Continue to listen to trance but try and discover other stuff anyways ( much like what alec used to be around 2-3 years ago :P )

p.s. Alec thanks for the good word I know i haven't been around much and that u missed me, but you're still a fag ( not as much as Marcus tho :P)

Alex: You're a fucken idiot if you think the superstar scene is over. Have you heard of a guy called tiesto selling out 10 000+ arena's left and right on his elements of life tour? Things are just beginning bud. No one gives one fuck about sasha right now.

The genre trance has huge all around from 99 - 2001 or so. Even with paul oakenfold being the king back then and kick starting the "god dj" phase, the club scene was huge enough to sustain all the other more unknown trance dj's. Trance was huge. Massives were huge everywhere. The club scene was huge.

These days good luck finding a trance club with any medium size dj unless your name is one of the top five.

Although it is pretty obvious tiesto is going to take #1 again this year on DJ Mag and explode the north american market once again with his name alone. Just look at the LA show where he soldout 15 000 people in august.

Trance is dead. The superstar phase is far from over and in fact i think will become much larger in this continent.
