Any thoughts on the Kipper-Rucinsky incident??

I've been watching hockey for almost 20 years and have never seen anything like it.. So was Kipper concidered as the bad guy? What happened before he went and threw that puck?

After seeing a replay of it, the 2 minutes was for unsportsmanlike conduct was just. Kipper was technically the bad guy since he didn't have to retaliate. However, I don't blame him for throwing that puck at Rusincky to send a message not to crash into his house.

what game were you watching? They should have won that game 5 or 6 nothing. They hit the post 3 times! I know it was only the Islanders and they need to play Ottawa better the next two times, but holy fuck I am hung over and I need to go back to bed.

I think I am an alcoholic

Detroit will not win the Cup this year. They are too old. Besides, they were absolute crap for 40 years until the last decade. They can't even sell out their regular season games and they're first place in the entire League. "Hockey Town" my fucking ass.

that has nothing to do with it. Last year the ducks won, california isn't exactly 'hockey country' is it? It's about the teams and detroit are good. I also fancy calgary from the west and in the east I hope Ovechkin & the caps get in and knock ottawa or montreal out, since both of those places are full of pretentious twats Wouldn't put it past Pittsburgh making the final though.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Mar-16-2008 17:49:

pretentious twats? Without those teams, the League would have no identity. You should go see a game in a Canadian city (except Toronto..it's too corporate and expensive), because we know the game and are more passionate than you can believe.

Putting hockey in places where it does not belong (Anaheim, Carolina, Nashville, Tampa, etc) was one of the NHL's worst mistakes, but that's a whole different story.

If you dont' have respect for the Habs' franchise or its fans, then you dont' know hockey, simple as that.

Posted by Rockabye on Mar-16-2008 18:02:

Smitty you live in Canada right?

Are the Leafs still the #1 franchise in your country? And why them and not the Habs???

Only because the Habs play in french-canada?

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Mar-16-2008 18:07:

Well Canada is a very regionalised country and there is resentment regarding English-French Canadians, West and East, etc.

I think the Leafs are the richest NHL franchise and definitely Ontario's team. However, there are Habs fans everywhere, even in the United States, and the debate about what team is truly Canada's team still rages today. Of course, since I live near Toronto, most of the media in Ontario is Leafs-centric and it is annoying as fuck to see Leafs highlights first on a sports show when they're practically eliminated already.

My own personal opinion is that Montreal is Canada's "real" team since they reflect everything that is Canadian and have actually won a few Cups in the last fifty years.

over here in Europe unfortunately it's a lot of Leafs-coverage too. from the various HNIC-games we ALWAYS get the Leafs-game.

and on TV we only get the Habs when they play Toronto or have a match against the Penguins, Rangers or teams like that.

at least we have Center Ice Online since january so I can follow my Habs regulary.

Nasn by chance? Habs aren't shown for a reason, they suck Ratings show Leafs are more popular in europe, so it's no wonder they get picked. And they're not poutine munching scum

it's all part of the plan to get stamkos in the draft... sadly LA, Tampa Bay, Edmonton and St Louis I think are also trying the same plan!

Come play-off time, come Shanny time.

Since day 1 Ducks fan here.

I think the Ducks can be a very big force in the playoffs IF: the team stops getting hurt & suspended. Everyone hates Pronger sure, but I'm sure glad he's on our team...except when he takes things to far, as usual. Scoring has been an issue all year, and with Perry out now, that doesn't help. But the Ducks defense and goal tending is so good it could go very very far in the playoffs. Problem? They play awesome at home, but are a pretty average road team, and with little hope of finishing higher than 4th in the conference - it may just be a one round home ice advantage.

Playoff hockey - LOVE IT.
