If I ever find the time to learn and use Ableton for mixing it will be for mixes that I post on here, I couldn't use it live I don't think. I'm happy using CDJ's.

Not to mention I don't trust computers one bit, in my history they've fucked up so much. Having my whole set sitting on a hard drive doesn't make me feel very comfortable if something with the PC malfunctioned.

The difference is: When one CD-R is fucked up, you only have 1 track, you can't play, but if your harddrive dies down, you don't have any music left

Try using one CDJ.

Well, if you really want to use Ableton for not only pushing buttons, you'll probably use some more stuff like MIDI controllers than only the laptop

What's your point? If they worked once, they're going to work again. Better yet, it's most likely going to be YOUR equipment. YOU know it works, and YOU customized it. I see win all over this setup.

A harddrive is more likely to die down than a CDJ

I don't really care too much what someone uses, I personally think that using Ableton only to do the transitions is really boring and I would never want to do it myself in a club. It's different when you really play around with it and add extra melodies and elements, like Paul van Dyk already does

external hd, and if that fucks up, then it just isnt your night as a dj.
