I picked up a pair of Behringer Truth B2031A's about a month ago and now that I've racked up some hours on them I can honestly say I absolutely love them. The bass is great considering they're monitor speakers, also they can get loud as hell. I've heard nothing but bad comments about other Behringer products but I can honestly say I couldn't be more happy with the truth's. i got some Canare L-4E6S Starquad XLR cables going to them. i don't know how they compare to the KRK RP8's but if they're not as good they have to at least give them a run for their money

I got them price matched off the web at Sam Ash in store for 279.99 new. Amazing bang for the buck I must say.

That's an awesome price for the 2031A's. I have a pair as well and have been really happy with them so far. As far as parties go, I'd say they might be pushed a little too hard if you get in a decent sized room. However, for making mixes in your bedroom- perfect. Definitely sufficient power for that- and they sound great.

i don't remember if i already wrote something on this thread or not...but whatever....

got some KRK PASSIVE (!!!) ST-8's off ebay about a month back hooked up to my big ass NAD T760 amplifier. Pretty happy about it! cost me 280$ including shipping to Canada. I got screwed over at the door with border brokerage fees of 100$, but I still think I got a decent deal. They sound amazing but I also think I may need a sub.

I recently listened to KRK RP6 in a store and I was not impressed compared to my denon AMP + old Boston bookshelf speakers.
It sounded a tad more flat which is exactly the point of monitors designed for producing.

So my question guys, is why in majority you use studio monitors for DJ'ing at home instead of a traditional amp + speakers ?

I got lucky. There's a site parkaveelctronic.com that I found on google shopping and the guy at Sam Ash matched it. He didn't realize that shipping was like 45 bucks so he didn't add that to the price even though he's supposed to.

edit: I think you'll be quite happy with them.

Ah I see.

I got them online for 270 plus $25 shipping. so $295 total.

I checked a 3 guitar centers in my area and none had them in stock for me to try to price match so i don't have to wait for them to be shipped.

Anyway, they should be here by next week.

very excited

After reading this entire thread, I like what you guys all had to say about the Behringer Truth B2031A's. These are definiitely within my price range. And these will replace the link Aiwa's I have in my room now

Posted by rizo on Mar-27-2008 06:30:

anyone have the M-Audio EX66? if so please help me out with some nice review.

I'm rocking the Alesis Prolinear 820 DSP for my production speakers, they use to my my DJ monitors until I setup a Production "Studio" and moved my DJ booth into another room. My DJ monitors now are a set of Thapco Thump 15" Active Speakers..

Both sets are great, loving how much louder and bassier the Thapco's are for DJing..

That's the site I price matched from.

They almost nailed me on the shipping though, bc when you add it up, it gets the price back up to where everyone else is.

I love them. No problems at all!

Alesis M1 Active mk2 Biamp Monitors
My friend is willing to sell me these cheap, anyone have experience with them?

It's either these or the behringer truths....can't decide.

so, pair of Behringer Truth B2031A for the win when it comes to bang-for-the-buck bedroom set ups with occasional party usage?

That seems to be the consensus. The parties have to be indoors and in a relatively small space (apt, not a large home) because they're near field, so as soon as you get away from them you loose all to of the "oomph." You could always add a sub though. don't even think about using them outside.

Dunno about that - I used my set out on my deck for our housewarming this weekend and they sounded great for what we needed.

Yeah, I guess what I meant was don't expect PA style thumping bass out of them. That said, for monitors, they pump pretty darn well.
