Any suggestions on parking near Opera? I am serious about the carpool idea too (paying $10 to park just plain sucks, but if 4 of us are splitting that cost...)

parking is like $7 or 5 it's a Wednesday not a Friday or Saturday watch out for bums posing as parking attendants.

even though the house wasnt packed like i thought it was going to be...still a sik show...a&b put on a nasty performance

Show was amazing !

This show blew me away. Above and Beyond really delivered. I was also a little surprised there weren't more people there, considering how big they are, but I thought it was nice not to be packed in at least. It was cool to be able to go up to the dj booth afterwards and meet the guys too. Anyways, possibly the show of the year. Great set from Above and Beyond and an awesome night altogether.

Im a little late on my posting seeing the shows been over for 12 hrs now. I got too drunk. Anyway, I gotta give a special shout out to my mom and dad for making everything possible. No seriously, gotta give a thanx to Dylan, shout outs going out to Ottis aka Matt, Dubfire, the crew, A & B for delivering a kick ass show, my boys down on Rice St, and... I guess that's it. It was a good show. Opera is a nice place except for the fact the bartender tried to rob me on my tab. She obviously doesn't know my stee.

The show was fun. I liked a lot of tracks that were played, but the breakdowns killed the vibe for me many times during the night.

There were some killer electro-ish baselines in the first few tracks, and the last couple of tracks sounded really good...

Lemme guess, by the guy in glasses.

He was very active. A lot of the djs I've seen don't really do too much, but that guy was really into it. I thought it was cool. He was a nice guy too. The other one did some poses too.

I enjoyed the breakdowns, but I guess that is just my opinion. As it was said, it is Above and Beyond. Does anyone know what mix of Black is the Colour they played?

Posted by Dojomaster26 on Oct-12-2007 01:29:

Yeah, the group definitely gets pluses for being energetic and really getting into their set. Like you said PVDfan there are too many DJs who like they would rather be doing anything other that mixing when they're playing live.

We all have our opinions. I guess I just like my Trance a little less 'Epic' these days

Posted by PVDfan07 on Oct-12-2007 01:53:

Yeah, everyone has different tastes. I'm a big fan of the Epic style.

They really did get into their set and that is great. You're exactly right dojomaster, some djs act like it's just a job rather than having fun with it. Even though the whole dj rankings thing doesn't necessarily mean much, I think these guys deserve to move up to at least the top 5. Not only do they play great music, but they get the crowd going and have a good time. I know a lot of people will probably disagree. By the way, is it true that when they do live djing, a lot of the time it's just two of them? I was just wondering what happened to the other guy.

Yes it is true. When we had them here back in 05' it was Jono and Tony. This time Paavo came out. With three of them, I guess for the A&B camp it makes more sense to have two of the three out on tour so they always split it up.

I was wondering if people that went could post some of the songs they remember hearing? I recognized a lot of them, but a few I couldn't quite pick out. Off the top of my head I remember Needs to Feel, Black is the Colour, Can't Sleep, Alone Tonight, No One On Earth, and Home. I don't expect a full setlist to show up, just trying to remember some of the tracks.

unidentified track played at A&B

i heard this one track for the first time at tiesto a few weeks ago in atlanta. the song is has a very very hard sound to it. at tiesto it was a slightly different version played but above and beyond played a happier sounding version tonight closer to the end of the set. it has a hard kick and on the up beat it has a hard synth that almost sounds like a rock guitar. i can maybe recreate it in logic and post it.

thanks for the help guys
