Well, if you ever decide to venture out of the kiddie pool and join the grownups, we'll be here.

for the record, the last thing I want to do is disrespect anyone on any message board and i treat people with respect unless someone does me wrong. you (and a few others here) have made wise ass remarks towards me in the past for little reason so i dont give a shit if you dont like what im saying to you.

No, Victor - I have been nothing but pleasant to you in the past, you just seem to take any opinion that is opposition to yours as someone making "wise ass" remarks, and conversations inevitably wind up with you making remarks similar to those you've already made in this thread.

If you can't deal with opinion (and in this case, fact) that is contrary to what you believe, then the problem lies with you, and not others.

Fucks sake man - I even reviewed your last Frisky mix highly and I don't even listen to the majority of the rubbish you play these days. Next time you're going to make wild accusations, back them up.

If you really just want everyone to agree with you, I hear there are wonderful forums at trance.nu.

indeed. Myspace along with online forums, streaming radio, and online mp3 stores are part of that online infrastructure that aid or hurt things.

Looks like Dan and CL got a little too greedy when they saw how far cheating could get them last year.

Posted by idoru on Oct-10-2007 17:12:

I'm not even going to bother posting my opinion on this matter. Most people here already have an idea of what I'm going to say.

Posted by freakster on Oct-10-2007 17:14:

i like chris lawrence he is a nice guy, im sorry this happened to him.

unless the poll changes the records chris plays, it doesnt matter to me. i love the music that i love.

Posted by miamitranceman on Oct-10-2007 17:26:

This is really not surprising to me at all. As soon as I saw last year's results, DJ Dan seemed TOTALLY out of place.

RJT: who are you? you appear to be the next forum troll bitching and complaining in every second thread. you're a joke.

Posted by RebeL9 on Oct-10-2007 17:27:

seriously. every DJ at least in the top 10 must have had people cheat for them. Since PvD, Tiesto and Armin gets the most votes let's see how many from the same IP voted for them.
This crappy voting should have been abandoned years ago but if something fishy is found among the top 3 I fail to see what would keep the list alive.

hence why i said the only people voting in these polls should be DJs, promoters and Club Owners

You know, when you say something and people laugh, they're not actually laughing with you.

There are a lot of issues around the rankings. DJ Mag is the authority, thedjlist.com. What do you think of the industry ranking the actual artists so much?

Let me be perfectly clear about this. I think it's a good thing because it gives everybody a voice. It doesn't matter if you are in a little town in the middle of Nebraska or if you're an experienced clubber in London or New York City. Your opinions matter. Back in the day DJs would just go and do a crappy job in some city where they just didn't want to be at, or they just weren't feeling it and they would be, "Whatever. I wish this night would end." Now you have to be on top of your game. Every time you go somewhere, you can't put on a lame show. It doesn't matter if you're in London, New York, at a festival. You have to bring you're A-game. So in that sense the polls have kind of given everybody a voice and made the DJs take it seriously. But I think what has happened lately is the spirit of the polls is being manipulated with a lot of people cheating and I think that's where it's going wrong. Sure, everybody has their parents vote, or tells their buddies to vote, or everybody votes from their Hotmail account and then from their normal email account, everybody does that. That's no big deal. But when you hire a company to pad the votes for you and you vote thousands of times, then what you're doing is screwing the fans. That's not legit and I don't know how some of these people can look at themselves in the mirror. I don't know how some of these people are up on stage and not feel that they are there for the wrong reasons. They are there because they cheated. For me it's about integrity and about making the fans happy, and making a difference in people's lives. I was put on this planet to make people happy through my music. I can't do anything else. To me it's a good thing but shame on the people who have cheated, and I really hope that the people who are doing these polls really put forth the extra effort to make sure that they are safeguarding against these things. Like I said, shame on the DJs that cheat and how can you stand on stage and look out at the audience and feel confident.

Or we could abandon the whole crock of shit that is the DJ Mag poll, thus ridding ourselves of DJs and producers who lack any and all artistic merit and try to be ranked highly just for the money and fame.

Just a thought...

(Edit: Fuck, I said I wasn't going to really post in this thread.)

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Oct-10-2007 17:42:

TEAM MARKUS!

I like what he had to say there

+ I am all for abandoning the damn poll. There is no point to it. If you really do love the music, you don't need a ranking system to to tell you who's good and who's not.
