vinyl can still be cheaper or at least cost as much as digital. for example, i bought 'colette - feelin' hypnotized' (the single) when it first came out for $6.99. it had 4 mixes on it which means you would pay $1.99 x 4 = $7.96 at beatport for the mp3s (320).
Yes, but would you ever actually BUY all the mixes of one track? It would have to be one special track 
There's over 30 years of back catalog of dance music on vinyl. Digital for new stuff, vinyl for the classics

In a rather ironic twist of delayed madness, I'm now enjoying a very delicious and rather yummy plate full of my own words...
What a difference time makes... since initially posting this topic, I'm now about 50 or so vinyl records heavier and my bank account is about $600 lighter!
It's an interesting phenomenon that I noticed while having some company over: I can stick a song on my PC or CD player and most ppl will just react like "ok... whatever. nice choon". But the moment you break out that vinyl - totally different feel. Seriously. For some reason, there's this really odd mystique around vinyl. Perhaps of it being rather "unusual" in today's world, almost archaic and yet modern at the same time. Just weird.
Like I was saying, some friends were over and I was just playing the records I happened to like, next thing I know - I'm DJ'ing 80's style - e.g. single turn table, pause between tracks, while I literally... Jockey the records around

Of course it also helped that some strobe lights were around and booze was free flowing - it was amazing, untill I got so sh*tfaced I could not even stand straight to swap the records... so, I just popped Pink Floyd - DSOTM vinyl and chilled until I had to wobble over and flip the record.
Overall, great night... and I just plunked about $400 on vinyl this week alone. So yeah, eating my own words here mates... Wish me "Bon Apetit!"

Going to go slightly off topic here since I really haven't heard more then a few records in my life. I found it pretty lol that my friend at school didn't know of the existance of CDJs let alone pc programs.
I mean seriously key lock/master tempo is great. It's kinda hard to harmonicly mix without either a lot of preparation or key lock/master tempo.
Any comments on people who think those who don't use turntables aren't real DJs?

I cant say anything about vinyl because I have never used them. However, one thing right off the bat that I can say makes CD decks better is the open window for creativity. You cannot make loops on the fly on vinyl decks, & the cue button on CD decks enables you to use a particular sound as an instrument (make it a little beat on the fly). There are a lot of advantages going digital over analogue, but I cannot deny that I like the sound of vinyl much better than CDs. I dont agree much with what Danny Tenaglia says at times, however one of his quotes from an interview I read made a lot of sense. "It does not matter if your using cd's or records, if you use faders knobs or crossfaders. There is no right or wrong way to DJ, as long as it sounds good there is no problem!"
