edmm.ca, indamix.ca and that other website Malek posted on here once. Perv. :P

Interesting viewpoint though..a big chunk of ppl on here have day jobs (or jobs in general) and can't do the kind of sched to constantly stay "in the know" with the scene.. or they may have other hobbies and priorities too. They may not have the same knowledge base when it comes to naming tracks or discussing the dj's setup but it doesn't make them any less passionate about the music.

I've read Allied's opinions on massives..I'd like him to articulate a bit more. I for one do not like 'some' of the capacity and dj lineup issues but with some fine tuning these massives are heads and shoulders better than what you'd find in most cities, imo.

Not people who go to massives twice a year and think they have a handle on whats really going on with house in the city. Shit, I barely know shit relative to how much there is to be known about things going on in the EDM scene in Montreal. So many house music people in this city it's impossible to know it all. ALways someone doing a new night somewhere with some dj etc etc etc...

And on another note, I really don't gain anything by promoting cherry on here. I work there because I like the place, I spin there because I like the place and tell my friends about it because I like it.

If I wasn't working there I'd be partying there so it made sense.

what if you go out every weekend in Ottawa? I should name drop a list of djs I've seen in this city alone in the past year.. one could argue I've seen more bookings than several Montreal TAs even. And it's not just that, our locals too. You should come check out "nothing better to do in the O-town" Club Heaven sometime

Ah heck.. Allied (Greg) always name drops where he's been/going to so here you go

- Josh Wink
- Sander Van Doorn
- Preach
- Chus & Ceballos
- Eric Prydz
- Max Graham
- Bad Boy Bill
- Markus Schulz
- Mark Farina

and have been to countless resident nights here, as well as sketchville afterhours, Helsinki, private dj parties, etc. This doesn't include gigs in Toronto and Vancouver too...

I already said it wasn't about bookings...

to be honest I could care less about most of those names and if i made you my list you'd shit your pants

not that they all suck, just that theres more to it than a big name dj

Posted by Alex on Oct-16-2007 16:23:

omg, everyone vs Greg.

I'll take Greg's side.

Greg, do the Pot-Dragon and scare these guys away!

absolutely. Which is why I'm going all ape shit over BeB booking Stephane Grondin in the other thread, for example

And WRT that list, it doesn't mean I like all those djs.. on the contrary...

Point is, my views do not only constitute "two massives per year." Trust me, the "holiday partier" does not bother to waste his time downloading TA sets from ANF, Alex Graham or Allied Nations

I for one can't keep up, the day job, the home, the gigs here and there, its hard.

That doesn't mean I dont' want to keep in touch with the music and the people around it.

heck, even the djs themselves can't keep up with the scene

Ppl are ragging on Cox, Tiesto, Lawler, etc for playing old tracks or selling out but these guys are mini corporations now with several responsibilites.

I wish I took the full tuition funded dj scholarship in university

Tribe Hyper Club on Thursday nights...Music is usually good there, depending sure on the DJ spinning on that night. Club Opera on Sunday is the sick place too with regards to the club itself. The music there is ok.

Cherry, seems like a nice place. Just needs work on the sound system. Plus I can not wait until Nelson moves the entrance to side or the back of the building.
