it doesn't prove shit, just that i like riverside park more than park slope. i wouldn't want to live in any other part of the city over park slope or BK heights....those are real destinations, not second choices.

i've lived in jersey my entire life, and brooklyn has nicer neighborhoods (in the real sense of the word "neighbor") than any part of jersey. Those shitty little suburbs are nothing special. Hoboken is the best part of north jersey, and it's exactly like many part of brooklyn, that's why people love it. if NJ was so great, the real estate prices would be comparable to NYC. Which also explains why hoboken is so damn expensive.

hey how can you compare the capital of the world to jersey? give me a break.

im saying manhattan is 20x better than any other borough... not comparing jersey to anything. the city is expensive because so many people are jam packed into it, in conjunction with a lot of other reasons. comparing nyc real estate to that of jersey is like apples and oranges.

you clearly didn't listen in your economics class. at the base of real estate prices is the law of supply and demand. THe fact that people cram into NYC, and NYC is still more expensive than NJ shows that NYC is preferred by many more people. I'm not just talking about the city, look at the prices of condos in BK.

and yes you are comparing nj to the other boroughs. by you saying they are slums, and that NJ is "dope" you are implicitly saying nj is better.

dude.. i'm not trying to hate but that's completely wrong.

more people in nyc = more demand = higher prices.

and there's more people for a bunch of different historical, economic, geographic, etc. reasons

manhattan is better than jersey i agree, but jersey > the rest of nyc lol

Judging from you're posts.....it's far from an insult. If I wanted to insult you.....I wouldn't do it online.

that proves my point chief. more people want nyc (bk and queens included), so there must be an underlying reason. Also, since housing supply in NJ is less than NYC (BK Included), and prices are lower, that means less demand (and you can infer that means less desirable). i'm not going to give you an econ lesson, so read up in the below link then come talk to me about it.

You could have just said I was severely misinformed; your use of fuck immediately turns it into name-calling and thus an insult.

actually, forget it. i'm not wasting gas and hiking all the way up to some ghetto in queens just to whoop ur ass.

ill just forgive you

You do realize that new york has been a city and a hub of american life for centuries right? There are a number of complex reasons that there are so many people in new york: "new york is better" doesn't cut it.

And you can't use prices as a comparison of which is better, they are two separate housing markets. Jesus christ lol stop with the academics you don't make sense.

How much did you pay for your house as a matter of interest...

when you finish community college you will eventually realize that academics aren't simply academic, but they actually apply in the real world. Supply and Demand explains all free market pricing. Those other factors you speak of are incorporated into supply and demand.

i'll put my 8 years of post HS education against you any day.

lol i'm sure over time supply and demand was responsible for drawing people to the city. you just don't get it though.

SURE there is more "demand" because of all the factors I mentioned. Demand is simply a numbers thing, it just means more people want to live in the city. It incorporates all those factors because it just incorporates them as statistics. More people living in New York because it has been a center of the country is taken as just that, more people, and more demand.

that's why demand, or prices, isn't an accurate depiction of what is better. if someone wants to live in new york because they love rats, that is incorporated into demand. that shows how dubious an indicator of quality that demand is.

and like i said, they are two separate housing markets, and not as comparable as you think.

lol i'm not defensive, i just thought someone as inclined to insult would be as equally inclined to throw down, and I have no problem doing the latter.

just giving you options is all

Posted by vtec junkie on Oct-25-2007 05:21:

Looks like somebody got sick of posting on clubplanet.....

Posted by blenderx on Oct-25-2007 05:25:

lol nah never been there.

your queens bias is utterly apparent, it gives less credibility to your posts in this thread.

No bro, you don't get it. Supply and demand isn't simply a numbers thing. It's the graphical representation of REAL life. It's just an easy way to show what's occurring.

NYC (BK and other boroughs included) has a greater supply of housing. It also has a greater demand. Not surprisingly, it also has higher prices. That shows that the high prices of NYC(including outer boroughs) housing compared to NJ housing isn't a result of low supply. So it means something else is going into it; That's where preference comes into play. And yes, generally speaking, supply, demand, and prices are the best indications of which place is better. (of course this is generally speaking) Seriously bro, read some books.

The only thing apparent is that fact that you're off to a great start on TA......you fit right in and will gain many friends from here on out.
