Hooray for supporting a company that has absolutely no fair-trade products and is the epitome of the "Hey look at me and the label on my 'gourmet' coffee" mindset.

I know my trendster brew always tastes better when it's been farmed by people in third world countries working for slave wages.

So how exactly do you like to drink your coffee ? You seem to take exception at people drinking coffee at chains like Starbucks to drinking 'gourmet' coffee like Gevalia. I've tried a large variety of coffees available in the US markets before settling down on this brand. It has a wonderful taste. Care to tell us what you drink ? We would like to appreciate your tastes and ethical concerns about coffee companies and change our brands. Seriously what an irritating attitude. Or do you like to work people up for your enjoyment ?

quote:
A mainstream supermarket brand in Northern Europe, Gevalia is marketed in the United States as an expensive, ultra-premium brand. Gevalia holds the Royal Warrant for coffee roasters from the H.M. the King of Sweden. Gevalia also maintains an Office Coffee Service, offering premium mail-order coffee by the case, as well as premium coffee singles.

I drink this coffee and it's awesome. Try it sometimes. Oh wait you have probably tried it and found nothing special about this overpriced and hyped no-fair trade product. And what makes you think that Gevalia is farmed in a third world country ? Seriously, check wikipedia atleast before making ignorant statements. (1) Gevalia is owned by Kraft Foods so technically it's an American product and (2) it is produced in the Scandinavian countries. Care to tell us which of the Scandinavian countries are "third world" ? Norway, Sweden, Finland ? There is nothing wrong in enjoying premium brands if you like them and are willing to pay the price. Or you shouldn't just cause of this 'gourmet coffee' mindset ?

Considering the amount of time I've spent working in Fair Trade shops, I like to think I have a bit of experience with these kinds of things.

First, I've never said anything bad about people who like Starbucks, it's just a consistent cup of coffee that I think consistently tastes like shit. Fault me for personal preference if you want, but don't assume I make bold claims about the people who drink their product.

Second, maybe you should read the Wiki for Gevalia - nowhere on it does it mention anything about their business practices. It does, however, mention that Americans somehow think a Swedish grocery store brand of heavily processed, Kraft Foods coffee is somehow "gourmet."

Third, it also mentions a list of countries where they get their coffee from:

quote:

Kenya, Guatemala, Colombia, and Costa Rica

Last time I checked, none of those were Scandanavian or American.

And finally, I drink fair trade, organic coffee made in a coffee press.

So as I've said before, next time you feel like being a smartass, remember how poorly it went for you this time, and learn from that mistake.

Now im not the starbucks kind of guy. Let alone coffee: that shit sux ass. But sometimes i get jiffed into buying me some starbucks. =\

I always them Hazel Nut ice latte. Ice coffee now thats good. But thats just me.

Posted by biznology on Oct-25-2007 20:37:

my issue is that dunkin is more for people who dont like to think about their drink than starbucks.

starbucks can suck if you have no idea what you are ordering, get frappuccinos or arent willing to try something different.

and at dunkin you literally choose hot or cold coffee and then say whether you want them to push the cream or sugar button, which dumps unknown fatty or sugary fluids into your drink. thats some real craftsmanship!

oh and starbucks has more than one type of bean if you pay attention, DD just has black stuff|

Who the fuck cares? All coffee is nasty.

I don't drink coffee, but I am fairly addicted to Arizona's Pomegranate Green Tea Energy Drink Lite. Each can has like 2000mg of taurine, so I get my daily shot of bile extract.
