I use this strategy. Unfortunately it still doesn't work for me. For some of us at least, it's quite possible to go into zombie mode the second that alarm goes off, get up and walk over to the clock, bang on buttons until it shuts up, and go right back to bed without retaining any memory of what happened.

At one time, back in university, I was actually attempting this with 3 alarm clocks, timed to go off roughly every 5 minutes with snooze times. It's amazing how short a time it takes to learn the pattern. Eventually I gave up and reverted back to just one.

As for me, my thoughts usually run in the following sequence:
6:45 - "Screw this, I don't need to be up that early"
7:00 - "OK, just one more snooze and I'll be ready to get up"
7:15 - "Now I'm more tired than I was 15 minutes ago... let's give it a couple more minutes"
7:30 - "It's really getting late, and I have to take a 12-minute piss... better get up now"
7:45 - "Fuck! Did I fall asleep again?"
And on really bad days:
8:00 - "Shit, I'm already late, might as well catch another half hour" --> after which I'm usually unable to get back to sleep and finally end up hauling ass 5 minutes later.

And yes, it really is this identical routine, day after day... it's both fascinating and pathetic.

Which is usually answered with "Angled ass up in the air to achieve proper tilt, you dummy".

OMG I thought i was the only one.

I even set my stereo alarm and cranked the volume to some success but eventually decided that waking up and almost having a heart attack every morning isn't healthy.
