I hate the track and refuse to go anywhere near it, but then i'm nowhere near as good as PvD |

I dont mind the Anthem but its the other shit I cant take like Born Slippy, White Stripes, Oasis, and the slow techy shit he seems to play for about an hour every set these days.
me too , the new album is realy bad cheesy music in it
havent heard the song and dont want too, just b/c its britney spears, not b/c PVD did a remix. an odd choice for a remix, yes but that doesnt make him a bad dj. he still makes good music and has good sets.

And what did Holden do?

... which the label then didn't release as they werent main stream friendly enough remixes. Holden then released the remixes for free on his website. He didn't want to make accessable remixes that appealed to a broad majority, thats the difference.

I quite liked the A&B remix of one of Britney's tracks.
Interested to hear what PVD has done with this track, though I'm not a fan of Britney's latest "comeback".
Bring on the PVD remix of the Spice Girls!
Btw out of the big names in trance I always thought PVD had the best technical skills.

hm yeah hes more of a has-been right now, his name can still pull big audiences but I dont see him rlsing something of 'dyk technik' class right now, maybe he's just tired after 15 years and doesnt care anymore..

I went to see him on fri night and what a crap set it was! never again!
I haven't heard the track but if it is complete and total shit it wouldn't be a shock to me. We are talking about the same PvD that drops Anthem multiple times in a set.
Playing the anthem once is useless. Playing it twice is hilarious.

His mixing is superb, there is no question about that, and he knows exactly when to throw on a party tune. If your the kind of person who goes clubbing to stand at the front and watch his every move whilst writing down the tracklist in a notebook, then you might get pissed off by the occasional slightly more commercial tune. If you go to dance and have a good time you will find that he creates an atmosphere that is second to none! And the way he layers tunes over the top of eachother on the fly is simply awsome. His essential mix from global gathering is absolutly superb, especially the first hour and a half. |
Sorry, I haven't had the chance to read all the posts, but I just wanted to chime in. Doesn't PVD pre-date 99% of the Trance producers out there right now? Most of these guys wouldn't even be here without his influence. He had like 3 or 4 full length albums (which were very good) before 2001.
As for the Britney Spears remix, PVD has accomplished so much in a short time that he is probably shooting for a Grammy.

I do find Paul van Dyk advertising women's underwear and other items on his MySpace page quite odd. I thought people were mistaken and it was a MySpace add, but it's not - it's actually PVD advertising this merchandise. Gives new meaning to the word "sell out". lol.
