ah good point, though as far as diplomatic statements go that pretty much means he's going to be doing them.

He also had to cancel a gig just before the shooting due to sever weather conditions. Fuck, Cox is having a bad week. Poor big dude.

STATEMENT FROM CARL

05 Nov 07

I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of this Saturday [3rd November]. My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in this horrific act that took place at this gig. I am informed that it was gang related and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun! I will try my best to continue on the tour accross South America however deeply shocked and shaken I am.

Coxy.

It has been removed... Wow people are messed up.. RIP to those who got caught in the middle of this... I have always been a fan of strict searches when entering a club, and events like this are exactly why.

I can't see the video but I'm not sure I want to either.
This is horrible news! I feel awful for the ones who died

you don't want to see it, it's pretty disturbing.

Just watched it...thats some messed up shit.
RIP to the dead.

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Nov-05-2007 16:45:

One thing that bothers me is how many people you could see still filming this after it happened. So many people with the cell phones and cameras taking pictures.....its disrespectful to say the least. I know if one of my family members died in a situation like that I would not want it seen by anyone on the internet.

Judging by how slow people cleared out during the first 2 or so minutes of the video, I wonder whether many of them even knew what happened. Gunshots can easily sound like fireworks or firecrackers. The people lying in the foreground of the video appeared injured, but not lifeless. It's only after the 2 min point and everyone flees that there appears to be a fatality (white shirt guy in the middle of the dancefloor)

There is still a second video up, but not as graphic.

Posted by iLLnaDa on Nov-05-2007 17:19:

I just watched the first video which as Jeff pointed out is still on Google.... needless to say that this is one disgusting attack on clubbers/human beings/humanity it could have been a HUGE and I mean HUGE that so many more lives could have been taken by this and that is what makes the hair on my body stick up and get me teary eyed!!!! fuck this shit

Posted by pete242 on Nov-05-2007 17:20:

This is a horrible thing to hear about and witness. People just can't go out and have a good time anymore, they gotta worry about this shit. I know the security at GUV is very strict but at least I feel safe there. Can't stand these gang bangers.

totally, the first clip actually sounds more like firecrackers than a gun.

Do handguns even fire that fast? What kind of gun was it?

I'm guessing there were more than one shooter if it was in fact gang related, as some are speculating.

I wouldn't if I were him.

Think about the complications it would cause for all of the clubs/promoters who booked him, and how insane it would be to re-book with his hectic schedule. I think he was right for posting his condolences, and I'm sure at this point house music seems a lot less of a priority in life - but it IS his job, and he has contracts to fulfill.

Well sure, but at some point you still have to acknowledge that your "job" is playing beats to people who want to party. It's not like he's a medic in World War 2 who just lost his best friend to sniper fire. lol

I kind of lean towards him continuing on with the gigs but not because of administrative commitments but more because otherwise you'd be letting a bunch of assholes ruin the good time/ momentum of something (overall) good to society. Uh, blah I'm all over the place today.

i dunno. there will always be another party, another venue. whatevs. i would be totally ok with carl cancelling for a few weeks.

were these people even caught (the shooters)?

Posted by Dr. DAS on Nov-05-2007 18:03:

It sounds like one gun, probably a TEC-9 or some other 9mm submachine gun. I'm sure they are much easier to get a hold of in Venezuela than in Canada (like our gangs have any trouble at all).

Usually you can tell different guns by slightly different sounds.

As for all the poeple running past the guy laying on the floor, I'm sorry but this is not the time to play doctor. Anyone here take a first aid course? What's the first rule? Don't become a victim yourself.

It sounds cold, but he can lay there bleeding until I know the gunfire stopped. What if the shooter confuses you for one of the slain man's (who has yet to be proven as either a target or bystander) friends? The line between heroism and stupidity is a fine one.

I'm amazed by all the bleeding hearts for that guy. It seems likely he was a gangbanger like the gunman, which is how he ended up dead. Do you feel all mushy for the guy shot dead outside the Don Jail the other day? Where's your outrage for the victims of Toronto's gang shootings?

Keep your speculation to yourselves, details will follow in time.
