yeah ive had issues with no snow tires, but as long as you are paying attention, its generally do able. with a car a snow drift will stop you even with blizzaks, if the road is reasonably plowed, you should be able to make the trip with all seasons.

that being said, blizzaks in even the shittiest subaru make you feel like a rally champion, just dont ever use the brakes|

Just set up your corners beforehand with big angles, (clutch kick it in the junk at about 50mph or for anything tighter, use the handbrake) wind down the drivers side window while punching your fist yelling "DORIFT-O!" in a bad asian accent.
You'll be right

(edit- crap she's got a FWD car, buy new tires and drive like miss daisy)

This thread should have been posted in TOTA, kinda funny reading the advice from ppl in the southern US.

I've seen way too many yuppies in their RWD beemers and soccer moms in SUVs talking on their cellphone from a ditch with all-seasons. I actually slow down and point and laugh at them. There are other stereotypes I'd point out with all-seasons but I'll refrain.

Overall, the cheapest snow tire will always outperform the best all-season tires at any money.

truth.

i don't care how fast everyone else is going when the weather is shitty. i drive like a fucking pussy when i feel like i'm not in control of my car. funniest thing i've ever seen was when i was going down this long stretch of country road (2 lanes, straight as an arrow, speed limit is between 45-60mph) during a really bad snowstorm, going 25-30mph. a bunch of cars fly up on my ass and decide to pass me over the dotted yellow line - fair enough, go for it... then 5 miles up the road i see all of them in the ditch.

i almost pulled over just so i could point and laugh at them.

If this is going to be your first season with winters, you will be the one flying by on people's asses and STILL be pointing and laughing when their asses end up in ditches! lol (actually, you wouldn't do that because if you raced people that had all-seasons on, when they lose control, they'd take you out with them )

My car will be ready with its winter package tires + rims in about 1 hour!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!! Other owners on the car forums I frequent already said what an amazing handling difference their winters are making vs. their summers in this non-snow weather. The temperature makes all the difference!! Rule of thumb: when average daily temps fall below +10 degrees C, it's time to change to winters.

I hope I don't point and laugh at you this winter mister new beemer Keep your trunk heavy. I put an extra pool sandbag in the trunk of my Miata to put some weight on the rear tires, for extra traction (when my winter beater was in the shop). It's very diff't driving RWD in winter.

this is exactly how i drive in shitty weather. i fucking get scared of the other drivers thinking they are gonna slide into me!!!!!! ugh how i hate the way people drive in adverse weather conditions!

one day i was driving to my sisters which is 50miles away. it was raining pretty hard out and i was on the freeway. i HATE driving in rain normally but i needed to go to my sisters. so i was going 50mph max and a lot of times 40-45 and people were hauling ass at like 75ish. some guy got on my ass. i was afraid i was gonna get in a wreck with his ass!

Several years ago I was driving down a country road in my Jeep when some asswhip in a Porsche came flying up behind me... I'm doing 90 in a 70, which apparently isn't fast enough for him. He starts honking his horn and flashing his lights... eventually he passes me, gives me the finger, and rockets away. A few KM up the road I see him sitting in a ditch, car half burried in snow. Driving a 4x4 on country roads frequently, I ran across a great number of cars in snow banks, which I would normally recover for the poor driver; however, this guy was a dick so no help for him. Instead of helping I threw it into 4-low, eased my way down into the ditch, drove around him (in the ditch), rolled down my window, laughed, pulled back up onto the road and went about my business.
