Jerk it, work it, and merc it, hehe.

If you decide to read, don't read anything that's exciting, as it will build your adrenaline and disrupt your sleep. Same goes for TV, I find listening to Sportsnet or The Score all night puts me out faster than anything else. If that fails, try TV Guide

How many things in your room are plugged in? There's a theory that's starting to pick up that says that the energy in the room that comes from electrical things that are plugged in can screw with your subconcious blah blah blah, lots of technical words I'm too lazy to think of right now... Either way, unplug all your shit. I used to have 2 fish tanks, a stereo, TV, Lava Lamp, clock and multiple gaming systems all set up in my room. My sleep improved vastly once I shut down one of he tanks, and unplugged my power-bar for the TV/Stereo/Gaming Consoles. It may have been a mental thing more than any actual evidence of the phantom load theory, but it worked for me.

lol but that takes too much effort.. thats like working out.

ive pulled out my notes, sometimes helps sometimes doesnt

i live in a bachelor pad so everything is pretty confined. i dont really leave my computer on anymore and my cable box gets turned off after watching tv. ive heard that as well... plus some electronics make little buzzy noises which are annoying.

whoever's living above me have been making quite a bit of noise as of late... lots of creaking, mild television noise... but its ok, i return the favour with a steady stream of 128 bpm

hahaha good call (I guess my initial answer wasn't specific to the winter season)
It doesn't even need to be night - as I learned around 2:00 today.
In thread bitching about snow, you can find a detailed description of the triple axle I did on a nasty patch of ice.

Always clears the nasal passage and just feels overall refreshing.

Eh. It's that fear of slipping keeps me from pounding the pavement as hard as i can, thus I don't feel like I'm getting maximum workout for the run.

I suppose I can invest in some winter running shoes but I can't be arsed

I wouldn't recommend strenuous exercise if you're trying to sleep cause it'll get your heart rate going and will keep you up instead. I take a couple gravols if I need to get up early and can't sleep. They're for motion sickness but they're good as sleep aids too. Just don't take too many cause you can hallucinate of them shits.

Eat a healthy serving of turkey a couple hours before bed-time. It's been a while since I've done the research, but turkey either has melatonin in it, or it has something in it that causes your body to start producing melatonin, which is the chemical that makes you sleepy.

actually recent research has found that turkey does not contain quite enough of the chemical to make you sleepy

lol i tried some of the stuff... i went to bed like 415 am haha woke up at about 1130...so tonight the plan is to go to bed around 230 and wake up at 930. gonna slow move my sleep schedule around. i love sleep though its sooo hard. cuz i dream a lot... and sometimes its so much fun. like ill wake up then go back to sleep for like 25 minutes and have a crazy dream, then wakeup again and do it again. after a few of those, my brain hurts..

Best solution to insomina:

1) Work for 9 hours

2) Aerobics or some cardio at lunch break

3) After work go to gym and do some weights and run on a treadmill - 1 hour workout time

4) Go do some dancing class for 1 hour after (belly dancing in my case)

5) Go home, have a little snack/dinner, chat on msn, post on TA, prepare your shit for tomorrow, or do some homework, or read a book before going to bed.

Trust me from all this exhausting physical activity - you will sleep like a rock without a single toss. I haven't slept so good in years.

The key is exhausting yourself physically with exercise and busy schedule
